I'll use my Tuff Lite at work as a beater. Great ergonomics although I removed the pocket clip altogether. Can't going wrong with that blade shape and size.

The Cold Steel Tuff Lite looks easy to sharpen on any bench stone freehand... The edge would likely strop up fast.. Good EDC pick. Thanks for the video.

Many wood whittlers/carvers like the mini for control and ease of sharpening. I own many regular tuff lites and it’s my edc. Blade retention is not as good as the Spyder S30V but sharpens quick and easily. Because the price difference and ease of sharpening the Cold wins for me. I own many Spyders and love them but over the 50 or so pocket knifes I own I carry the Tuff 90% of the time for small edc tasks. Fantastic review and video on your part. Thanks.

My arguments over getting the tuff lite: - Even stronger lock - Has closed retention (doesn’t open in backpack etc) - Stronger clip - Better ergos and rounded handle - Has lanyard hole (kayaking, working in high places) - Might have just decent working steel but if you use your knife a lot it’s super fast to sharpen - Much cheaper (buy backups)

very neat review, never saw the similarity between these 2 until you pointed it out. it took me almost 3 years to finally buy one of these, the aus8 and grn scales turned me off if im honest😅 once i got it though i understood why many knife nuts love this little beast: the ergos are fantastic, it's very robust and it cuts like a dream, absolutely rips through anything.

☺️I like the overkill build mentality on the tuff lite, I can see why they are popular work knives The mini one kinda looks like it’s using a replaceable utility blade… Cold steel “cut n go” looks interesting a utility knife with their own xl replaceable blades.

Would love to see a slightly more premium tough lite, 14c steel and with the pocket clip on the right end of the handle. Clip is a killer for me personally. Def an interesting comparison.

Bro Great comparison… I got both versions of the tuff lite in January, and feel that same way about the mini…too small. Only reason the full size doesn’t get more pocket time is bcuz of the tip down carry

Aichi steel Japan makes the Aus series of steels. Aus 8 Aus 10. When other Japanese foundries make Aus 8 or Aus 10 they add the A after out of respect to Aichi. Thats why you have Aus8a and Aus10a. Ive read all sorts of rubbish that the A stands for annealed and it is better. Its the same steel. 👍 Its similar to 440 and is used a lot for medical instruments and scissors.

Do you have a reference to back this information? Not disagreeing, but as you alluded to, there is a lot of conflicting information about this! I've seen an interview with Andrew Demko where he said that they found that Aus8a and Aus8 had a notable difference at Cold Steel (or something along those lines). I found that to be very interesting.
