Coldplay. What can I say? I've always loved your band, I went to many of your concerts, I have several posters of you in my room. But in 2016, I really want to thank you guys for what you brought me. This song, Everglow, means so much to me now. A friend of mine was badly injured during the attack in Nice, we all thought she would not make it. While going to see her at the hospital, I was listening to your album to find some comfort. But I actually found more than that; I found a shelter. Particularly within this song. I have a hard time saying that I love people but thanks to you, I told her everything before it would be too late. Luckily, she made it. Still not out of the hospital yet, but she's alive and I am deeply grateful for that. So Coldplay, thank you for making me strong, thank you for the tribute you paid in Cannes this weekend and thank you for your talent and deeply understanding of the world. I am speechless. Thank you. (Sorry for my mistakes, English is not my first language.)

This aired on the same day of my Gran's funeral, I didnt cry at the funeral, I just felt numb all day. But I wept like a baby when I watched this later that day/night, all my emotions just came flooding through. Coldplay are my favourite band ever and this song will now forever remind me of my wee Granny. What a performance. Thank you Chris Martin.

I loved them until their latest album, to be honest. I felt a sudden change of direction starting Mylo Xyloto but I still liked it. Ghost Stories felt underwhelming the first time I listened to it but I ended up really loving it in the end (save for A Sky Full of Stars, which felt kind of like the obligatory commercial song, the whole album had a relaxing melancholy and the whole thing told a story... I greatly enjoyed this). But the new album failed to get to me. First time I felt this way, as I loved every album of Coldplay before (one more than the others... X&Y is my ultimate favorite). Oh well, either they changed too much overall or their next album will be more to my tastes. Everglow is not too bad, though. However, because they played this in France the very day we were remembering our brothers and sisters (murdered at the Bataclan last year), I first thought this song was written in memory of them (I think Sting did something like this, as he was the first one to play again at the Bataclan). Guess it wasn't. But everyone at the NRJ Music Awards probably felt they played it with this in mind.

This song always reminds me of my dear cousin Gene. He truly was a "particular diamond that was extra special." He was one of my favorite people at every family reunion, because I knew that wherever he was, there would be endless storytelling and laughter. It's so sad to think that the world didn't know he was gone after he passed, just like the song says. I miss him every day, and I will always think of him whenever I hear this song.
