They didn't like the way the recording of X&Y came out. But they had to publish the album in time so they couldn't record it again. That's what I heard about it though (I think i heard it in an interview talking about Speed of Sound)

More like record the entire X&Y album again and play those songs live again ffs. That’s such a beautiful album. Swallowed in the sea is one of the best songs they never play live. Bless her for requesting that song.

Swallowed in the Sea is a song for Gwyneth. She was devastated after the death of her father and Chris was there for her the whole time. When you listen to that song, think about it and that song will be even more beautiful ❤️ “Yeah, you belong with me Not swallowed in the sea”

@@tkain61 Chris wrote several songs for Gwyneth. Gwyneth and Chris first met a few weeks after her father died and she was devastated, so the theme is repeated there several times (Fix You, Swallowed in the Sea). His confession of love to Gwyneth is the song Moses (on the record Live in Sydney 2003) and there you can also find the theme that he is there for her and that she can lean on him ("If the sky's gonna fall down, let it fall on me If you're gonna break down, you can break on me If the sky's gonna fall down, let it fall on me If it's gonna rain down, it can rain on me It can rain on me”).
