I love Coldplay. I can honestly say this song saved my life... While I was dealing with severe depression I heard this song for the first time and after hearing the first verse; "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you." I thought 'Why would they shine for me?' and then it just kinda dawned on me. So thank you Coldplay, for making me realize I'm worth something.

This song brings to me such a flood of nostalgia. I was at a boarding school where the wake-up call used to be this CD that had this song on it. I was sick and tired of all the other songs after having to hear them every morning but used to always look forward to this song. Whenever this song used to play, my room-mates and I used to always sing our lungs out and it was such a wonderful feeling to see the sun rise from within the valley mountains and jam to this song with some of the most amazing people that I've had the pleasure to be with. Every-time I hear this song, I get transported virtually to those innocent, spirited times of school when everything was so simple and everyone was so happy and life was as perfect as you could expect it to be

Same, the feeling of nostalgia is one of the best feelings. I just remember all of coldplay's songs playing on the CD player, I'd dance around the living room feeling the music, sometimes just for hours, my brothers would join me. Good times they were. Funny how life changes a lot. If I could go back to then I sure would.

one thing i love about Coldplay is their ability to bring out any emotion with their songs. listening to songs like viva la vida and charlie brown give me motivation, yellow and paradise make me happy, and sparks and fix you make me sad. sometimes i just need to bring those emotions out, which makes it easier because not only is it the same band (which makes me feel like i’m not listening to some “stranger”), but also mentally easier for some reason

This song is about how you can become so dedicated to someone that you believe the universe revolves around them as if it was made for them. That they make you such a better person that you feel evil without them. It's about how you couldn't bare the pain being without that person to the point that you couldn't take having a thought of them dyeing so you would go first for them. I first discovered this song through my ex. she told me I was her first love. She was an amazing girlfriend to me, a soulmate I never knew I was looking for. To this day, we still keep in touch but only talk every now and then. I always mentioned her in my prayers and I believe God wants me to stay with her. We've known each other for about 5 years but the last time we were together was more than two years ago. The reason we haven't been together more was because of school, family problems, and normal life responsibilities getting in the way. I believe that in the future, we will be together again forever after. And that's why I still listen to this song, it was her favorite. I never would have discovered this song if it wasn't for her.

I can't help but tear up when I hear this, reminded by all of the people who were a part of my life who all gradually started to fade, relatives and friends who passed away or moved somewhere where we don't speak anymore. The hardest part about this is that, with my ADHD, my memories at 29 are not what they used to be, so it hurts so much when I literally can't remember the last I spoke to or saw them when we parted ways for those who passed. Even complete strangers, some homeless and struggling, who I met and helped out in little ways that touched their souls in which I do still vividly remember, I still think on them and pray everyday that they are living much better lives than when I last saw them since I don't see them around anymore.

I'm going to sing this to my boyfriend. I love him so much and I want him to know that he's really amazing and special. I want him to know that the stars are shining for him, because he is unique, loved, and worth it. :) and also for the people out there: You're worth it :D remember that.

my father used to play my sister and i this song on guitar all the time. he was a horrible guitarist, couldn’t play at all. but he told us how the stars were ours. and i’ll never forget that. this played at his funeral, and it now resonates deep with me. he lost his fight almost three years ago. the stars still shine for us. but they will always remind me of him.

I remember listening to this song every single day for 2 months after a 3 year break up due to him having to move far. It reminded me of him so much, it pains me and my heart but also heals it listening to this. I still think of him to this day.

When my dear friend died unexpectedly in his sleep, far, far too young, this song just kept coming on the radio. Between his death and his funeral, it came on 5 times. I cried and smiled and looked at the sky and knew he was shining down on us. I felt him there. The stars were now his home; his new world; his new life. Today is the first anniversary of his death. Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, Scott! 🌠🌠🌠 Look how they shine for you!❤😔❤ Love you. Miss you...

I found my yellow two years ago…and I lost it because of my stupid choices…now I’m afraid I’ll never get them back I return 6 months later to say that I think I’ve found my TRUE yellow in the most unexpected place. And it feels so good to know that :)

All the comments are from so long ago. I remember my sister playing this song all the time on her ipod touch in her room. It was when she was going through a bad depression. I remember that from like years ago, those were the days where I couldn’t really understand what was going on with my sister (I was very young at that time). I never really liked hearing coldplay after all of that but now i’m going through my own depression and I stumbled across coldplay again. I guess I’ve kinda come full circle

Whenever I was in jail for 10 months this song literally broke me down whenever my sister would play for me over the phone, to the point where I was cutting myself and giving up on living all together simply Because I had lost the one person that had ever blessed me with happiness and love 💘 this was our song..

Jesus loves you more than you'll ever know. They whipped and beat him until he could hardly stand up, and then they killed him. Three days later, he rose again. God. Loves. You. ❤

This song reminds me of my dad and his relationship with me, he died of suicide before I was born and I never got to really have a real relationship with him but it still feel it at heart. I get bullied a bit in school from his suicide, people found out, they decided to pick on me about it, by each different person picking on me from grade 5 to now, I realized he died for a reason, he was struggling with addiction of cocaine and he didn’t want his kids to see nor did my mom want us to be around that type of father figure, they had a fight the day he died and my dad went outside and my mom didn’t know where he went she thought he left until she went outside and saw him hanging.. The lyrics: “for you I’d bleed myself dry” because I would cut myself because I felt like it was my fault they found out and for my dads death since I was an unplanned/unexpected child and a second child means more work to take care for ANOTHER child other then my brother. then the lyrics: “look at the stars look how they shine for you” since he died I always remembered him in the stars, the lyrics: “your skin no yeah your skin and bones” since my dad died in early 2011 and his body is decomposing he’s literally dead and not coming back it makes me realize he’s just a corpse now and I will still feel him spiritually but I will never get to hug him even though I want too. And finally the lyrics: “you know, you know I love you so” for me is meaning I know he loves me and I love him, he must’ve been excited about his baby girl, but sadly never got to see how similar I am to him and how much I love him.

This song really reminds me of my grandmother. I listened to this before she passed and it always fit. She would sing you are my sunshine to me when I was younger and she is my sunshine, my yellow. She was diagnosed with liver failure when I was 15. I decided to move in with her and take care of her. Around this time she got really bad over the last three years. I had some family drama happen and had to move away from her… two months later I got a call from my aunt saying she was on a ventilator and that she’ll pick me up the next day to come see her… I fell asleep and woke up to my aunt calling, crying, she told me to come and say my goodbyes.. we raced to the hospital and I felt absolutely numb.. when we got there it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, saying goodbye. I gave her a kiss and told her “you know I love you so”… and she will always be my reason for this song.. its not been very long since she passed and it’s so hard… but hearing this song I know she’s happier where ever she may have went… I love you Nanny…

This song means so much to me. When I was little I remember my dad would play it for me when I was about to fall asleep and sometimes whenever I start to miss him I listen to this song. He’s with his other family now, but sometimes I wonder if he ever plays this song and thinks about me. I miss you dad, I hope you’re doing well.

I once met a guy that was about 16-17 who told me about his girlfriend of 3 years who was suffering with leukemia. This was her favourite song and he sang it to her for the final time as she died in his arms. I think about him every single day. I met him and boarded with him for two days and haven’t seen him or talked to him since. I hope he’s doing okay.

I don’t know what it is about this song that makes me just absolutely love it but there’s just something about it…I love all the Coldplay songs that I’ve heard and I haven’t even heard all of them. But none of them match this one in my opinion. It has such beauty, such honesty, such love, such tenderness in it…And the music is so powerful and emotional as well. It’s like the music is conveying all of the emotions that the lyrics do. It’s intense and strong but beautiful and loving. Like I said I love Coldplay and all of their songs I think that they are an awesome, extremely talented band, but this song has got to be my favorite of theirs. It’s just absolutely beautiful
