I clearly wrote arranged - and yes, I know there is a difference.

The confusion here arises from two different senses of the word “transcription.” Generally, in current usage, we use “transcription” to mean an aural “take-down,” converting an audio recording to sheet music notation - perhaps writing out a Lester Young jazz solo, or notating the music to an early animated Disney film for which the orchestration has been lost. But there is another, earlier usage typified by Liszt’s “transcriptions” of themes from an opera into a bravura concert piece for piano. It is that sense that results in the title page for this creative arrangement of BEGIN THE BEGUINE (IN THE MODERN IDIOM FOR PIANO) bearing the indication “COLE PORTER Transcribed by CY WALTER.”
