I appreciate this chat and I hope you keep doing this - even if it’s just for you ❤ Also, some of these things remind me of what spurred me into looking at the possibility of having adhd and I’m diagnosed now and it’s just something to explore! Good luck - stay strong and give yourself a break now and then! Our brains can be jerks to us haha

@@rubeuscubeus I got diagnosed about a year ago. And I don't like openly pegging people for like "ey, I think you totally have adhd!" but I think we do get a sense for people who are "like" us, in a way. Suffice it to say that I'm subbed to this channel because the way you go about things is something I understand!

As a somewhat new member to the channel, I have not seen much of the last 10 years content, but from what I have seen from going back through the last couple years of content on the channel, you give a good mix of gaming and general discussion. I like that combo. But to respond to some of things mentioned here: I think youtube is ultimately what you choose to make of it. People liking or disliking you will be a common feature of content creation. Ultimately, it is best to stick to what interests you, and then let the people come to you. Staying candid is also important, because you will present naturally, like you do. Keep going, and I'll keep watching

But since then it’s been like reliving my childhood with a childhood friend! Seems like we played the same games, listened to the same music, have the same ideas. So it’s really fun to watch these even though I’ve never met you before.

Your OSRS content is what pulled me into the channel and I feel like we shared a lot of the same insights about OSRS and video games in general. In continuing to watch your videos I actually started getting into GW2 and I am insanely glad I did. As a full time working dad, GW2 is another game I can just jump into whenever I want without the game feeling like I am clocking in for another job. Your positive outlooks on these video games actually increased my motivation to play them. It's important to understand that at the end of the day..a game should feel like just that, a "game". I don't envy you, because while you may have a passion for posting content and playing games, it sometimes may turn something like gaming which should be an enjoyable experience into an occupation/ job. Taking this into perspective, and while in the face of adversity from the internet trolls can definitely be factor in your "burnout" and can definitely feel de-motivating. Despite all this, I would continue being true to yourself and doing what you enjoy- even if that means switching up the content and keeping it fresh. As a viewer, I'd love to hear your insights on movies, tv shows, anime, comics, etc. The important thing is to keep doing what you love, that way you are able to input the same passion and quality in your content. As just your average dude, I wanted to say I appreciate you and your content- never stop keeping it real- and at the end of the day...fuck the haters.

This made me giggle lol, but also such a valid comment. I've always said, all those negative feelings like anger also have a place. We of course shouldn't use them to simply lash out and hurt others, but being able to let your thoughts out, explore your emotions, and let yourself BE is such an important part of surviving in this world. And we won't be able to find out how to do it in a healthy way, if we're constantly bottling it all in.

Part of being a content creator! The best advice I can give is continue to be yourself at all cost. You want to build the audience that loves you for you and not the personae you put on. Best of luck on the journey!

Hi Cole! Really like the candor of this video, and I beliefe it's really hard out there as a content creator. Totally relate to what you were saying about the learning how to do things the own way. I once tried to go on the journey of getting diagnosed for autism, also can relate to many things in add, but it's really hard as an over 40 year old. Didn't have the strength to push through (too many calls, talking, appointments, driving around, asking, asking again, and so on), so I stopped. (Did you know Jacksepticeye got his adhd diagnosis at the beginning of last year 😉) Although I'm here mostly for GW2 stuff, I'm also all in for your podcasts 🤩 Glad I've found your channel! Wishing you the best, a thick skin, and loads of stamina for your future, the future of your channel, and all the things you do. 💫 Hope you get the time and mind space to have a break once in a while. ~cay

Not a current Eve player, here for the Eve content. Guilty as charged. I guess Eve voyeur. In my video games, I tend to borderline spectrum on my games. Multiplayer, I play whatever my friends are playing. Mild Eve autist for too many years. Now I am starting to burn out on games in general. You can embrace entertainment if you want. You are entertaining enough. Remember, it is always entertaining spending time with entertainers. That dude from The Hold Steady wrote that. When was the last time you sat down and just listened to music for the sake of listening to it? Treating a track list like it was art in a museum? I asked an old buddy of mine that when he came through town on a tour. It's been a long time for both of us. I am entertained. If that is your purpose, you are effective.

I watch mostly your GW2 streams. Not that I wouldn't ever watch anything else, but when you stream, I've tried playing the game while watching and nothing gets done. If I watched all of your streams I'd never play! 🤣 There's going to be all sorts of people popping in and out of your streams, just be you. You can never please everyone because there are so many different thoughts on how to play things. Different people love different aspects of games and if you try to please them all and not be yourself, you're going to be a miserable gamer.

I believe this video was partially in reference to a reply I made on that Brighter Shores video. I was definitely very harsh with that comment, but I did think your attitude in that video was way different than anything else I had seen from you. I understand the business side of KZbin and that the brighter shores dude is probably trying to take advantage of that, but it felt strange to be condescending about that, even moreso now when you admit in this video that you've done things to take advantage of that business side of content creation as well (posting multiple MMO videos to gauge which will bring more views). Either way, I went a little far with the personality assessment in that comment. It was just an initial feeling I had from watching that video and I didn't necessarily mean to state it as a definitive thing, hence the "makes me wonder" part. Sorry about that. I'm a fan of the vids/streams and have had the bell rung on your channel since I subbed. Didn't mean to come off as someone who hate-watches your content.
@awaredream89522 ай бұрын
I think there's a toxic culture around streaming. With ego instuff. And you seem like a more genuine person that doesn't seem to be getting a ego kick out of success which is cool. Like you don't seem to sort of act like you look down on your community kinda.
@mormegil2312 ай бұрын
You do not want to be a person that sticks with one game. There were many such people in MMOs in the past and you get trapped in a bubble that allows the devs to monetize you to hell while missing out on whatever else is out there. And even worse as a content creator you becomes a one trick pony not actually having any insight for things outside that one game.

I enjoyed some of the OSRS videos a lot, I think my only issue with them is that they ran really long which can cause issues especially when I'm on the go most of my day with my kids or wife. Unlike your opinion videos, I actually WATCH them instead of plugging in headphones and shoving the phone in my pocket and listening to your takes. It's a lot more active watching for your gaming videos. I think that's why a lot of times people keep them short. Also missed a few videos it seems lol. On the notes of the issues of being a creator, I think for engaging with a follower, it's true they know almost everything about you, but at the same time you have to be very choosy about when to engage THEM due to the fact that you'll have more people backing you which can landslide into harassment. There's a level of harassment that a creator can unintentionally initiate, especially since the Andy's can be pretty aggressive without consideration for their personal wishes, that's why I think it's pretty taboo to engage your haters. On negativity, unfortunately yeah, if your chat's turning hostile it's usually a good idea to have a mod crack down on it. As for your concerns about other things like the performance of your videos: I'd say just do what makes you happy, I've seen a lot of creators burn out heavily because they're not doing things they enjoy, they're just doing things so people will stick around. It's important to keep to what you enjoy, take feedback that's actually useful and try to refine your content to build on what people are positively responding to such as your opinions and thought processes.
@GruesomePizza19922 ай бұрын
Perhaps you should do more of streams and not so many regular uploads. It’s not worth the overload to keep up with the algorithm. Also is it possible to gift you a game via steam? Regardless if you make videos of it or not, I just know you’ll enjoy the game.
