Giant Red-Ear Smackdown!!!! CATCH and COOK Spicy Fried Fish!!!!!

In today's video we find a big mess of fresh active red-ear and bluegill beds. To say we wore them out would be an understatement! Don't know why, but I prefer to scale, dehead, clean, and cook whole. Fillets are okay, just seems to lose a lot of meat. Plus I like the fried skin.

You are so right .With bluegill I can eat maybe a dozen but with red ear about 4 is fine . Caught 57 red ear last week with many 9 and 1/2 inches. I cleaned a mixed bag of 30 red ear and bream about 3 hours ago. I'm addicted to eating them whole . There's no debate it's worth the extra work to scale them vs fillets .

It is better than Chick-fil-a! My daughter used to love Chick-fil-a, but for the past year or so, whenever she gets her nuggets, just mostly crunch and no meat. If you order the tenders, they have that piece of tendon in the end. Still good, but just not great. The sandwich is the last great piece of chicken they have. We still support out local Chick-fil-a because they do so much for out community, just wish they would get some better quality nuggets and tenders. Anyway, back to the catch of the day. We call them shellcrackers here. In fun catching and flavor, they are right up there with the crappie, y'alls other favorite and mine too! Happy birthday to you and keep up the good work! Fish here would swim circles in that round bucket and jump out. Square buckets are the only way. I have a lid on mine and a wheel weight to hold it shut. Keep being awesome

Good fishing. I try and throw females back during the spawn too. Lots of people don't though. I saw a guy almost get in a fight because he threw a female spoonbill back once, and another guy had a problem with him releasing it. Keep the good videos coming
