The Best IMPROVISED Rush E Duet Ever? | Cole Lam

Remember Zach @pianoserd? He's 9 and we played an improvised Bohemian Rhapsody the first time we met? Well, I was just finishing at St Pancras, and he came up. I could not miss a chance to play something with him again, and we quickly set some of the kit up. When my dad asked what we would, I said "something will happen". Zach then hit out Rush E... Haha, he's not playing around! So, unrehearsed, unplanned, un-discussed, unexpected, and unbelievable - possibly the greatest improvised Rush E duet - from the minds of @SheetMusicBoss to a random piano meet up in London St Pancras Train Station. Brilliant. And yes, I know there will be some that say it's all fake, all set up and we have practiced for ages. But those that were there would know the truth! Zach had not even taken off his coat! Oh yes, go follow @pianoserd!

Sadly we didn’t get the to play much together but hopefully next time we can. Oh and maybe I’ll practice La Campanella (Jk. I’m not at that stage YET but I DO know the first part of it) Thanks for the shoutout again. I do really appreciate it. And fun fact Cole, you might not know this but I’ve known your channel for nearly 2 years. That Bohemian Rhapsody cover (with over 114 MILLION VIEWS 😮) was one of the videos that got me to learn the song. And ANOTHER fact that you might not know is I’ve been in a couple of other videos. Thanks Cole and Zach, and also thanks to Chi, who set up the cameras again. You recall that we were expecting Zach to turn up earlier, not having met since dueting at Battersea, he wanted to duet with you again. I can vouch for the fact that there were no rehearsals as I was there and we were just about to go when Zach arrived. This was so spontaneous, there was literally those few seconds on the start of the video. The crowds that had started to subside as you were packing up, started to amass again, so I started handing out more flyers. What viewers do not see is that after this, when left to play on his own, Zach played a really professional cover of "Unchained Melody". An original Righteous Brothers classic. Others may remember versions by Jimmy Young and Robson and Jerome

Cole is 7 years older than you but you were keeping pace with him seemingly without any effort. There is no doubt in my mind that you have a great future ahead of you in music. I did smile at him not even taking time to take his coat off, it's a mark of his growing confidence that he just gets on and plays. The piano playing is incredible, but man, can we just appreciate the moment Zach realizes that he's got an opportunity at 0:15? He knows there's no plan, so he hatches his own plan. Seconds later, before anyone else can object, he plays the first notes of Rush E, and smirks. That's one of the best, most devious smiles I've ever seen. Cole has just enough time to say "Something will happen", right as he realizes what Zach just started playing. Cole laughs nervously, knowing the insanity they're both about to attempt as Zach breaks out in a giant wordless grin, knowing Cole's going to attempt insanity with him. You can't script that kind of subtle but genuine interaction.
