Today we put the performance parts on the Coleman CT200U-EX. Letting that throttle screw out and the performance parts make a huge difference. I highly recommend this kit. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe.

Just got my CT200U-EX put together today. Took the initial test ride and said that will never do. Grabbed my screwdriver and could not move the throttle screw. I took the air filter off and the throttle screw was welded in place. I cut the screw off and got 27 MPH out of it. Wow what a difference. Going to try the zip tie trick next. I see a Go Powersports order in the near future.

I look forward to this series every Monday. Your basically exactly where I am with mods now; except that I bypassed the governor completely by making a new throttle linkage. I only use mine off road so the K&N style filter was a no-go for me. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well they will run with a stock intake ported to the max. I only wish they made a Uni filter for the stock air box so I could get rid of the paper filter.

Red Beard, can you do a video of switching out the head light for an led light? The first thing I noticed at night was how bad the light sucked. Also, maybe you could add a battery that is charged by the magnetic coils. That would be a sweet set up for us night riders.

Looks like it made quite a bit of difference in torque. A little more speed and Lonnie could clear that driveway! Before anything i stick a ziptie in the governor spring, cut the head off of one and put it on another. It took the baja warrior from 22mph to 33mph.

Put a Zip tie in the spring between the governor arm and the Carb. This will give you about 4500 rpms without touching the governor. If your light on the throttle you can feel it pull against your throttle but you can over power it and gain more revs. Also help with clutch slippage. Basically free mod. Dont even have to take the tank off. I usually just lightly wrap the spring with the zip tie. If its to tight you risk opening the bends on the end of the sping if you pull to much throttle. I have also taken off tank and replace this sping with a solid rod to a better effect but i find the zip tie works just as good and is easier.

You can move holes on the governer arm with the spring going to the carb and raise your rpm as well up to 4800rpm is max ive seen someone get one to go too
@kaylapearcey2527

I got this RPM with just cutting a few coils out of the return spring. Nice part of cutting the spring is you can lower the RPM back down by adjusting the screw back in.

@rncboy2
@rncboy2 3 жыл бұрын
@@Odin31b I personally dont run them anymore. I have a engine with one still together and working in the engine if I have the time I will. It's more or so one of those things you have to play with yourself. Each engine will be set up slightly different where the arm with the spring to the arm off of the gov shaft that runs through the block pushing on the gear to add rotating mass to slow the crankshaft up when the arms on the gear fly outward and some more things I cant personally think of at the moment. Sorry buddy it's been a fairly long day at work today. Anyways you can also use a stiffer spring to change or adjust it. If you remove the governor and dont want to use a throttle stop screw on the OEM throttle setup you can play with the timing and jetting to adjust the max rpm it will go under load. Without load will be different it typically when free revving it will go to a much much higher rpm.

We installed the performance kit today, however everything didn’t go as planned. The jet in the carb wasn’t slotted and the carb screw couldn’t be backed out. I’m guessing these items are intentional due to strict California smog laws where the bike was bought. Other than that, the kit was great and the bike has that straight pipe Harley cackle to it now. Your video definitely helped.

I put a predator and tav-34 torque converter on a CT200U-EX and my Baja warrior MB200. It is by far the best setup, and I can creep up steep hills with tons of torque or do 45 down the road. Getting the tav34 to fit on the 200U-EX required cutting/welding of the frame to install without engine mount risers though.

How about putting a "springer" seat on the EX for a little more comfort while riding?
@backyardkarts9554
@backyardkarts9554 7 жыл бұрын
thats a good idea, i wonder if that would work on a go kart with no suspension
@Seniornuggets

BackYard Karts the point of a springer seat is for comfort on a bike with no suspension. The springs under the seat become suspension for youe body, as to not destroy your back on hard bumps

but would it work for my go kart?

I agree Kelly Best. When my EX was slow the lack of rear suspension wasn't so bad, now it can be downright brutal. It looks like it would be fairly easy to add springs under the stock seat.

What’s funny is in the review that you did originally before you said it had a lot of power, but now you’re saying that it has no power. I think it is fine just how it is originally but I’m not trying to be mean just saying.

Have you seen Vanguard's 37hp EFI v-twin? That thing's gotta be a torque monster. What do you think about using it on a go kart or mini bike?
@RedBeardsGarage

It would be awesome but you would have to make a jackshaft setup. They have a 1 1/8" shaft

The fact that this thing was hauling him up that steep ass drive way with next to no problem stock is why I want this thing lol. One question tho, how does this thing compare to the massimo mb200 interested cuz I’m lookin and the massimo is nearly 1k where as the Coleman ct200-X is 800.

Dear red beard. Could u use a 12 volt computer fan as a small engine turbo by mounting it on the air box

Kart Kid It would do more to restrict the air flow than to actually help it. It might turn 100-200 rpms. Turbos spin 80K+ rpms...

We like riding these in the woods. Top speed really isn't our goal on these bikes. We will have a street mini bike soon.

+Red Beard's Garage also not sure if you've been watching Carsandcameras channel lately but Ike scored 2 Coleman minibikes , and 1 baja warrior really cheap because one of Ike's friends had 6 of them for free because they had factory defects

Thanks for your response I understand what you mean. And now I can't wait for a street mini bike that would be cool. Oh and I have to ask you something, have you ever tried a 3D manual clutch on a mini bike,go kart if not you should try one out it works just like a motorcycle clutch and mounts to a predator but the only catch is it doesn't shift gears. But I think you would like it. Anyway another awesome video keep up the great work!

Nick H i changed my Baja warrior 200cc trail bike to a belt drive and I turned the governor all the way up and it made it twice as fast I topped out at 65/70 I put blinkers on it and I wrote the numbers on the goose neck down went to the secretary of state and I got a moped sticker for it and I got it street legal so I could go riding with my cousin on his Kawasaki ninja 250 and a friend of ours on his Honda grom 125
