I've tested this tent well the grey original version which uses same frame in more then 100km winds lake Jindabyne it was more like 120km but not advisable had the tent for about 10 years never had a problem but its time to replace it as the fly is worn out and all the tape seals are falling off. Very happy with it was going to upgrade to a Blackwolf but don't see the point in paying 4 times more for a tent that will do the same job if your lucky . Almost forgot as for water proof first trip it rained 24hrs straight of some of the heaviest rain you would get not one drop got in but after 2 years I started to spray the fly with Nikwax once a year just to keep it all good

Fantastic review mate 👌 I've just bought this exact same one and am keen to test it out in a couple weeks. I feel it's a big upgrade from my $170 spinifex which was pretty close to hopeless when it came to wind and rain.

if you put the long tent pole at the middle of the side awning, it might have withstood the wind since the side awning is bigger than the front :)

Mate you don't. The side awning is a zip on attachment and the front is part of the front entrance/ vestibule!

Getting their Darkroom varient, reckon its worth the extra 80 bucks?

It depends mate, I like to wake up with the sun and I usually don't go much past 8/9pm if I'm camping here in Australia. So for me having the light enter is ideal, but if you want to supercharge your sleep into the morning I would go for the darkroom 💪. I have found it can be a bit of a sweat box if you're in the tent when the sun is in full force and it maybe amplified a little more with the darkroom in direct sunlight, but thats any tent in direct sun. Happy camping!

the 6 man version is in fact only 14 kilos.. but about 20 cm longer than the 4 when packed up.. the aussie sun fries and fades everything.. the darkroom tent protects everything. cheers

Do you have a link to (or the name of) that fly? The fly I see on Amazon for that tent is pretty basic.

Unfortunately, i had my Gold evo 6p less than a month and only used once, the seam tape is starting to peel off and the water leak into the inner tent.

Ahhh man that sucks 😣! Mine is still performing like new and I've used it more times then I can count probably slept in it for 2 - 3 months now! Take it back and get a replacement! Most camping stores are happy to help you out as that should still be under warranty.
