Nice video. Thanks. Any chance you can explain/show the correct setup/use of the spreader bar that comes with the dark room 8P tent's tent poles?

I assume you are referring to the roof poles that are integrated into the tent, Wilhelm, the extra poles are upright awning poles, I'm not aware of an additional spreader bar. The setup of the frame for the 8p Gold is the same as the setup for the Silver Series 8P, for which you can see a video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKXbfmOgdqZ6j68. I hope that helps. ~ Ben

Hi!! Your video is great! We are discussing about going forward since a Coleman Kobuk valley 4 plus to this model. The reason of the change is that we're about to travel in a few months to the south of Argentina and we may need to dinner inside the tent so, the 1,30 top of the Kobuk make it no easy to set some chairs inside, and we will have the beds there too. The temperature that we'll face will be about 0°c or a little bit less at nights. Do you think this tent could work for us or should we look for something else? Thanks in advance for reading me 🌟

This will certainly be an upgrade from the Kobuk Valley 4 in terms of space, and it will be fine in the temperatures you mention, Alejandra. The Kobuk is not a tent we have in Australia so while I can't speak from experience I think dome design and flexible poles will be much more forgiving in high winds than the rigid instant up frame of the Gold 8P, this would be the main consideration I would recommend, if strong, persistent winds are not an issue then I think it would be a good choice. ~ Ben

@@SnowysOutdoors thank you so much for your quick response!! Yes, it's a big jump because here in Argentina we don't have the model 6 available in gold series. It starts in 8 😞. The other concern there I have is about the durability of the system. Maybe I am so used to the domes (before the Kobuk we had a Darwin 2 plus) and I find kind of odd this new system. Nevertheless, I think it still is my first choice, at Least in this market of ours that is so complicated. If I could I'd get a 6 person model because we are two (used to travel comfy 😅). Hi Ben!! Here we are in Entre Ríos, Argentina waking up from our first night with the instant gold. As soon as we slept it started to rain and it rained a lot. The tent worked just fine. We used your video to set it up ☺️ thanks for this. My concern is about how to dry it when I get home since the floor is "kind of fabric", and if it is wet, should we not put it in the bag? We have the 10 P gold and the guy ropes are so short I can only bring them out about a foot.

Hey Snowys. Have you worked out why your viewer rate has decreased this month? Everything is bloody Coleman. Haven’t watched one in about a month despite watching most prior. A business deal I’m sure but can’t you mix it up a bit?

Prior to that we filmed all the Oztent range and we have another range/brand of tents in the pipeline which we will be starting on this month. The groundsheet isn't included, Julian. The one I used in the video is an Oztrail Ultramesh tarp - www.snowys.com.au/ultramesh-tarp. They come in multiple sizes so you can just choose based on what ground area you want covered under and around your tent. Coleman now also make some specifically for the Instant Up range, which you can view here - www.snowys.com.au/ground-mesh-footprint. ~ Ben

What’s the best 8 man tent in your opinion?

That's not an easy question to answer, Ethan. These 8P tents from Coleman are a great option for general camping in fine weather. Those on long stay camps may prefer a canvas cabin tent such as the Oztrail Cabin range which are heavier, bulkier, more expensive but very sturdy; livable and durable. Then, there is the more traditional dome style tents like the Brampton and Galaxy from Outdoor Connection which are really well-made tents and are reasonably compact and affordable for what they offer, but they take longer to set up. Throw in some personal preference and budgetary requirements and that becomes a difficult question to answer. For me, I like the Outdoor Connection tents for general camping, but I wouldn't use these for 4WD touring. I hope that helps a little. ~ Ben
