I live in Alberta Canada and even tho my family has never been involved in farming I sure love Cole explaining how hard it can be financially and explaining how it works. So I will keep on watching the videos and I wanna say a good job to you all, and frankly, I wish my everyday job was like yours.

Put in a water alarm to turn on the sump pump automatically. So you have better piece of mind n just check it once a month
@kristopherlalko70463 жыл бұрын
@@realredditstories420 yeah but the sump is suppose to be the back up I think he said. So if the sump is running you know there's problems with the tile . Also a alarm will tell you the water is higher than it's suppose to be to. So if the alarm is going off you know you have issues. All float switches go bad so an alarm would be a good thing. Get to much water in there you could float that tank right out of the ground

Daddy Cornstar I was thinking of you this past weekend. We laid one of my cousins to rest. He and his sweet wife are now together again. I'll miss both of them. We worshipped together at our 130 year old Methodist Church for many years. My Mother, Father and the rest of the family filled a pew, now there's just me left. God gifted all of them with long blessed lives. Mom's last words were, "I'm coming home. I'll be right there." May the lord be with you all the day's of your life and welcome you home.

If the sump pump runs into the tile, you create a single point of failure at the tile. Run the sump pump above ground so if the tile is blocked you can get the water out.
@andrewmckee88743 жыл бұрын
The water is sitting at your water table level. When it rains it increases, drys, it decreases. A french drain won't lower your water level unless it can drain out a at lower point and given that you want to put it below your water table it's not going to be very effective.. probably just help raise the level in the pit during wet weather. Make a good sump and have float switch activated pumps (which will also set an alarm so you know it's running). Set the second at a higher level as a back up and drain it through a surface water drain line

From Judy in Australia 🇦🇺. You can’t be too careful around power lines. My husband had a burns patient who had trucked a load of cattle from North Queensland (1000 miles) 1600 km approximately. It was still dark and the trucker climbed on the top of the four trailer truck to unload the cattle not knowing about the power lines above him. The power arced through his body shooting from his shoulder to his feet. He landed in amongst the cattle which were too tired to trample him, and thanks to some good mates who gave CPR (despite the cow muck he’d landed face down in) he made it to hospital. He was a tough bush boy and made it through a 12 month recovery and a few setbacks such as infection from inhaling cow manure and poor graft healing thanks to the broken injection tip left in his wound. Oh, and did I tell you he vomited a skin flap from inside his throat at the tracheotomy site they had to make so he could breathe. That happened at his return home celebration party when he and his mates went on a bender (drinking session). As I said he was one tough dude. ❤️🇦🇺

Great to share the caution about the overhead wire danger. If you didn't know with higher voltages you don't even have to touch it just get to close and the electricity can jump to the equipment. There are recommendations for clearance based on voltage. I know a retired farmer who lost his hired man and his son who tried to help him caused by electrocution with farm equipment and overhead wires. Be safe....

I am blown away by how much you have improved your farm! Google Earth lets you see older shots of a location, and the difference between the most recent one (10/2020) and the one just previous to it (3/2015) are stunning! I can see you have a bit still to work on, but it is a HUGE improvement already. I just kind of regret that Google did a recent fly over... I'm gonna have to wait a while to see the new bin site complete! (BTW, I am NOT a stalker, except by cyber. It is just a fun game I play with my favorite KZbin folk and Google, trying to glean enough clues to find your physical location. I never stalk or harass or - as one of your fans did - visit without permission! I also never share my discoveries with anyone else. Just so you know)

If there is any way to not deal with a sump pump do it - all it takes is one time of it going out and you've got a mess. Also make sure if you do have a sump pump you put a backflow preventer on the line. It will keep the water in the line being pumped out from going back in your pit. We live in the flood zone and our basement has water everytime it rains. less wear on the pump with that back flow preventer. (hubby is a plumber and he had to revamp it when we moved in after the first pump failed and we had a foot of water in the basement)
