Stafford is under rated, they have some beautiful large homes out there! Prices are great also.

Have family in Virginia. Very lovely and charming area, at least some parts of Virginia. Many walkable sections, trees, parks, stores, shopping malls, airports. However, 1) Used to be a smooth quick drive, now the traffic is horrible as seems people from Maryland use a "shortcut" road through Arlington and Alexandria. 2) The house prices are crazy and overpriced 3) Property Taxes are hurting a lot of people, some residents are paying upwards of $30,000/year - further away from county/city is best ; also have to pay Car Tax 4) Crime has started to increase in some parts 5) constant Floods in the Old Town area of Alexandria 6) Many vagrants popup as panhandlers from the DC area, 7) some areas have lovely homes, as Old Town but then across the street are Section 8 housing and shelters, more crime and vandalism, drunks, to name a few. Though, there are many nice areas like the Dulles corridor, and parts of Chantilly, Ashburn where it is much quieter and less congested, but the house prices are very high.
