I work at a long term care facility and we used to have a Jazz drummer who lived in our facility who would perform every now and then for the residents. He was very feeble and used a walker to get around the building, but whenever he got behind a set of drums he would give it all he got. He never lost his touch, even up to the end. It was pure magic.

Colin Bowden was sitting in a chair as opposed to most other drummers who sit on a stool, but it suited him, no doubt a chair gave his back support. I have only recently found Colin on You Tube & he was very good, he got such an authentic sound to replicate the early style of Jazz drumming. He played with his eyes shut, & he was really focusing on the tune, & his years of playing experience showed in abundance.

This drummer has rhythm and has a melodic vibe and makes his drum set sing. He is using his technique and skills to express his feel. Very few drummers can or have this ability. You are born with this gift. It has been said that music is a tool of GOD. The drum set was his instrument of “PEACE” and when he sat behind the drum kit he supplied the “LOVE” that that brought the music and drum kit alive. He expressed LOVE and PEACE to all people through his drumming, that was his gift to us all. Thank you. I am sorry for your loss.

It's actually more of a tasteful solo rather than "crazy technical" drums, a lot of it utilised more basic rudiments in a tasteful way. I ain't a massive Ringo fan but you can't compare this guy's swing feel in a more trad jazz style to someone more pocket oriented like Ringo's drumming imo.
