Those were some of the most intimidating and complex to comprehend concepts of the whole Laravel ecosystem that I had repeatedly tried to tackle, but really struggled with for years in the beginning of my experience with Laravel... After I discovered this video a couple of months after its publishing, I finally found myself able to grasp the idea behind it, explained in such a reasonable and accessible manner! I loved it!

For the strategy pattern on makeparser method you could register the parsers in an array and instantiate a parser based on format supplied. Love this video by the way

Nowadays you can use Mock, you don't need FakeLocator class

If you mean for testing purposes It's better to use a FakeLocator class rather than a mock in your test because with the mock you couple the tests with the implementation,
