Colin is hugely self deprecating especially with this film (even today he jokes, berates and puts it down) possibly due to the guilt that comes with the mammoth amount of money he was paid. How could he have gone through months of training with the 'Alexander Boot Camp' in Morocco loaded, drunk or hung over? His memory has been affected with his lifestyle of drink and drugs so how well did he really remember how much he drank or was hung over let alone what drugs he had access to and was taking at that time. I doubt anyone would put in jeopardy a $10 million pay check. He would have been fired long before filming took place. Watch any doc on how this film was made and see him learn to ride bare back, sword and hand fight. Learn of war tactics under top army personnel. Watch him roll on the ground, exercise and witness his fitness. Then tell me he was not present as he was moulded daily by his specialist trainers to becoming a leader, the greatest leader of men there ever was. From being one of the lads to being the man who thousands of men followed for 11yrs. If he were a drunkard how did he learn and deliver his lines? Tell me. Yes, Stone said he hardly understood him with his Irish accent plus he was loaded when they first met he said later. What insurance company took him on? How did the medical doctors rate him? As unfit. An addict and alcoholic. He would not have got to day 1. Would he? His proclivity is one of self correction and to take on a massive challenge. He thus thrives even 15yrs later.

Geoffrey Noonan It's so great to have someone comment who actually knew Alexander and drank with him. Were all his high ranking soldiers sober or drunks? I suspect alcohol was drunk in those days instead of tainted and smelly water. I wouldn't know as I wasn't there. I doubt Alexander would have been able to ride bareback without falling off if he were constantly inebriated.

WOW, I didn't know that Alexander the Great had black roots! Colin's olive complexion and bleached blonde hair is not very convincing. Colin may be a fine actor, but the casting for Alexander who was in life quite blonde with a ruddy complexion was terrible.

This film was bloody awful. But Colin Farrell and all the actors didn't had much to work with, so I can't blame the actors for how the film turned out to be. For the most part the actors played alright, Colin Farrell and Jared Leto were the standouts for me, but that doesn't say much.
