I've just seen this guy interviewed on an Amazon series called 'Gone Shootin' and in my view he chatted absolute bollocks. He actually said it's not the gear you've got that counts but who's taking the picture. While that of course that is true it's also a truism and pretty valueless. He seemed to have a complete lack of interest in his kit and appeared to believe any old lens would do, making no distinction between primes with zooms. Truly weird. That is all fine at the most basic level of photography but when you're talking to anyone with any experience at all, the quality of the end result is hugely dependent on....mainly the lens you're using. Those that question the expense of some of the world's best lenses should really take a look at a few of the great images and investigate the lens behind the image. And then they'll understand the value of a great lens. The camera and sensor come a very low second compared to the importance of the lens. Anyway, if his 'Gone Shootin' interview is representative of his general philosophy I certainly wouldn't even consider paying any money at all for his advice.
