Joel Klatt names Bama's biggest advantage over Texas, talks LSU loss, Lincoln Riley & USC | THE HERD

Joel Klatt, the voice of college football, joins Colin Cowherd on The Herd to share his reactions to last weekend's games and make some predictions for the upcoming ones. They start with the Texas Longhorns, who will host Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday. Klatt tells Colin why Bama has a pretty big edge over Texas, and explains how HC Steve Sarkisian will have to adjust in order to give his offensive line a fighting chance. The two also discuss what last Saturday's loss means for LSU coach Brian Kelly, and what USC and Lincoln Riley's success says about the rest of their season. Finally, Colin and Klatt talk the College Football Playoffs expanding to a 12-team format in 2026.

so true. Colin saying ND pushed OSU around is true for a minute. It's one thing to push a team around in the first or second quarter. It's a totally different thing to push a team around in the fourth quarter, which is what OSU did to ND. Not the other way around.

Living in Texas i say this ALLLLL the time. Look at the guys on offense who have left the state......or transfered out from an in state school. Drew Brews. Matthew Stafford. Adrian Peterson. Baker Mayfield. Kyler Murray. Jalen Hurts. CeeDee Lamb Coaches at Texas can roll out of bed and pick up quality talent. They need to find a way to keep guys in state.

I usually agree with Klatt but he’s wrong. The best players have always went to the blue-chip programs even before the inception of the CFP. Even with 12 teams, it’ll do the reverse of what he’s say and demonstrate how far superior the top teams are which will continue to aid them in bringing in the big recruits.

There's literally only been like 2 good semifinal games since the playoffs started. There's going to be more massacres with adding more teams. USC is not most programs when he's talking about players staying at local programs and NIL

@@courtneysimpson7942 I don't know it provides other teams with an opportunity to prove themselves. Upsets do happen. Ohio State win the natty in 2014 as a 4 seed. What really needs to happen is former good programs need to recruit better mostly in the states if Florida, Texas, and California. If you look at the 2023 class so far is say it's starting to happen. Florida has two teams in the top 10 plus FSU in the top 25 and UCF is recruiting decently as well. I'm Texas you have Texas in the top 10 plus baylor, Texas tech, and TCU in the top 25. A&m is disappointing right now but I'm sure they'll improve. Then there is California which only has USC recruiting at a decent level. They will help balance out the sport. Also Nick Saban needs to retire

Right now is the worst possible state of postseason. BCS might have been golden years of CFB because half those NY6 teams could call themselves champions, rather playoff losers. But it will present recruiters an opportunity to offer a possible path to the NC. And it will open up the media conversation beyond 4 teams.

OSU has the players to be physical. These are upper tier 4 and 5 star players. Knowles used his front 7 to being tough and Ryan Day can make the offense very physical...when he chooses to. Problem is sometimes I think his ego gets the better of him but he got past that in this game.

Yeah, as an OSU fan I was actually very happy with the win. The D was outstanding, and without JSN the offense went hard nosed and ran the ball down Notre Dame's throat in the 2nd half. I don't think we can beat Bama or Georgia yet, but by the end of the year the pieces are there to potentially get it done.
