Join us on an extraordinary collaboration between ‪@mbmmllc‬ and ‪@Danhurd‬ as we delve into the fascinating world of gold smelting. In this video, Jason from MBMMLLC takes the gold concentrates obtained from Dan Hurd's ore, which underwent the processes of crushing and concentrating using the MBMMLLC hammer mill and shaker table.
Witness as Jason skillfully smelts the gold concentrates, transforming them into a shimmering gold and silver bead. This intricate process allows us to determine the precise amount of precious metals present in Dan's sample.
Explore the intricacies of gold smelting, from the careful selection of flux materials to the precise temperature control required for optimal results. Discover the techniques employed to separate the gold and silver from other impurities, unlocking the true value of Dan's ore.
This collaborative endeavor showcases the power of teamwork and the synergy between MBMMLLC and Dan Hurd, as we strive to uncover the precious metals hidden within the samples. Follow along as we document the journey, providing valuable insights into the smelting process and the determination of precious metal content.
Whether you're a passionate gold enthusiast, a mining aficionado, or simply curious about the alchemy of precious metal extraction, this video promises to captivate and educate. Join us as we embark on this remarkable gold smelting adventure, unraveling the mysteries of Dan Hurd's ore and revealing the secrets held within its shimmering depths.

Hello Jason! I looked it up for confirmation and this is the origin info: [Borrowed from French coupelle, from Medieval Latin cūpella, diminutive of Latin cūpa (“cask”).] It's pronounced like "cue PELL" so now we know for sure! Good to see you and Dan doing what you enjoy.

You need to be very careful around ceramic fibre insulation, some packaging will mislead you into thinking it is a safe product but all ceramics will change the structure when superheated and the result can then become a serious heath hazard!

@nunyabisnass1141
@nunyabisnass1141 Жыл бұрын
@@foxfish7115t's not soluble, what happens is after formed into fibers, the pieces or strands are generally too large to be inhaled with much risk. Heating to high temps on the other hand can cause it to become more brittle especially with repeated cycled, allowing it to break in smaller average sized pieces that can get caught in your lungs more easily. I suspect that what can happen is the same as breathing in glass particles that will cause your lung tissue to scar around the inhaled particles. Repeated exposure would then significantly reduced your lung capacity. It's the exact reason why media/sand blasting either takes place in a sealed box, or they wear a full body suit with a respirator.

@@pappawheely I use a lot of ceramic fibre products and have done so for many years! It has only been recently that I discovered the hazard potential but I have always been pretty cautious wearing mask when handling the stuff! I think you just need to be aware…..

Question on bismuth: is recovery necessary? If you did grind up the cupel, could you just add it to the next smelt in place of the added bismuth? In other words, could you combine the separate smelt needed to recover the bismuth with the next regular smelt reducing the cost?

Is that Marbor #7 cupel? I use those. My friend did XFR on my cupeled gold, no sign of bismuth at all, I cupel at 1000 degr. Celsius... However I bought bone ash and magnesioum oxide and will try to make my own cupels, as Marbor are hard to get here and are a bit expensive, also, sometimes I need bigger, sometimes smaller...

Wait a sec Jeff's sample you smelted about a year prior to this video was like grey colored, and that was estimated at 80% gold. Dan's has a yellow color to it and it's estimated at 75%? Either you've gotten better at estimating since then, or your camera/software has changed the way the gold looks. :-P
