So useful. I’m hoping to start my first collage quilt soon and am feeling nervous about getting started. I can now go and choose fabrics and do this part. Each journey starts with a single step. I went to a Kaffe Fassett exhibition in Edinburgh last year and saw lots of collage quilts. They were amazing. So looking forward to what will come of my journey down the collage quilting path.

Hi sweat pea thank you for your instruction. When I heat the steam a seam after cutting the fabric out it is turning out very stiff. Do you think I got a bad roll of steam a seam? My last project was so stiff I had a hard time quilting it.

So, I assume when you're sticking it on the quilt block, you peel off the other paper and iron it onto the block?

At 3:26, you are placing your fabric rectangles on to the SAS and then you start cutting them apart. Do you not have to iron these rectangles at all before cutting them and using them on the collage? Thank you for the tutorial.
@CollageQuilter5 ай бұрын
I actually cut them apart and then gently press the SAS to each rectangle.

My needle keeps gumming up when I try to sew through the fabrics. I do press before sewing. Is there a tip that you can share

Steam, steam, steam! I steam the front AND back really good and that seems to do the trick.

Why is it called STEAM a seam if you use a DRY iron and no STEAM???
@CollageQuilter Жыл бұрын
Only use a dry iron when you are preparing the fabric. Once you’ve collaged everything and are happy with it, then you use a steamy iron and the fusible becomes permanent.

Great tutorial, but please ….. shut away your blade when you’ve used it. It’s so easy for a beginner to slice their fingers 🙄
