Just want to highlight a few things in seeing some of the comments. I still believe that other band bars have their own unique purposes and functions. Specifically for example the Nexus Bar by Clench (or X3/Harambe) I believe would be the better option for heavy deadlifts as the Collar Hooks (as mentioned in the video) could potentially overtime stress the hook over time. I had to purposely bend mine to do so, but still it's why I'd recommend having the bands angled more towards the elbow. In no way Clench told me to say this (although I am an affiliate with them) here's a link to that review if curious kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXyqYmiKfMyGj8U I'd say the same goes for any resistance band barbell, they all have their own unique pros and cons. Ultimately at then end of the day, the consumers are winning as the market now has so many options for ways for people to find ways to make exercise work for their needs.

@Nikolarasification19 ай бұрын
Well these are just perfect for dumbbells, where you are going to be using the lighter loop bands. The serious steel 32" loop band would work best on dumbbells with these, as you will get tension even at the beginning of the range of motion for most exercises. What I like to do is pair a 32" band for early on resistance together with a 41". Great for scaling tension.
@Mrwatson1859 ай бұрын
It is impressive that you are impartial here, but to be honest for me these really completely take away the clench style value proposition. This gives incredible versatility in a home gym setting and allows you to use different style bars so it is truly modular. Even if you lift heavy I think the easier solution might be to double up on these and get the best of both worlds. Would for sure like to see you test is that is viable if possible. Great stuff!
@Nikolarasification19 ай бұрын
@@Mrwatson185 if you want to go really heavy using a system that is ultra strong you can do the gorilla strength barbell collars for heavy chains, and instead of chains you attach bands linked with a heavy triangular fishing karabiner from amazon. A total system withstanding thousands of pounds, with total cost of $80 a pair. The only downside is the width of the gorilla strength barbell chain collar, therefore best used with barbells. That's why for dumbbells the collars on this video should be optimal, as you will be using light bands with these on dumbbells.

Great video Mike! Note: a lot of the bars featured in the video are much heavier than the X3 and even Harambe. Personally, I think that is a benefit. But the hard core X3 fanatics want to minimize bar weight in favor of band resistance. They think variable resistance is king. They want it harder near lockout and easier in the beginning of the move. The stretch mediated hypertrophy / lengthened partials science proves them wrong (which is why I went away from bands altogether). When I used bands, I wrapped them around a weighted Mutt Barr. The combo of weight plus a little bit of band is better than bands alone...
@hybridresistance9 ай бұрын
Thanks Parker for that detailed comment and response.
@luigibonini8 ай бұрын
@ParkerBinion do you mean that hypertrophy only comes from the stretch applied to the lengthened muscle? Even so, with proper adjustments, bands can provide that kind of stimulus
@treasurethetime24632 ай бұрын
Agreed. Lots of testimonials, but I've never personally seen anyone go from sedentary out of shape to fit and muscular with bands alone. Not saying it's not achievable, or that it hasn't happened. I just never seen it. 99 percent of the "reviews" for X3, hurambe, and similar systems are really just unboxings. People are excited about the new you and the program that is going to save them from themselves. Even the very few before and after or updates are about theoretical, non transferrable strength gains they supposedly made within the system. IE "I can do 20 reps with the blue band".

I got to pin a comment on this, but the clench bar is still a solid (and better choice) for things such as heavy deadlifts with a bar. Thanks for watching Steve
@steveoake29019 ай бұрын
@hybridresistance I understand that the Nexus is superior for heavy loads, but I am not there yet, and I prefer to start with something a little more budget-friendly until I know for sure I am ready to make the commitment. For example, eventually, I would like to find a used X3 bar since I cannot buy one new without buying a kit of stuff I already own, but while I wait, I use a knockoff Geku. It will take no where near the load, but it is what I have.

These look really great. Have you tried putting multiple hooks on each side of the bar to reduce the potential of the hook bending? I'm thinking maybe 2 or 3 hooks on each side plus a collar clamp to keep everything in place? It might even be better for the longevity of the band as well since its going to be spread over a wider surface. Would you be able to test that out for us to see how well that works?
@hybridresistance8 ай бұрын
Yes, you can for sure do multiple hooks . The bend in the hooks is really only noticeable during heavy banded deadlifts that otherwise just bend right back after use. For the sake of trying to break or warp them in the video, I just tried to break them. Pretty much during normal use (at least what I've been throwing at it), they hold up fine.
@RTB_12349 ай бұрын
I just use the tube style handles and loop in the loop style bands into the o-rings. You probably can't go too heavy depending on the quality of the handle but it is simple and easy. Buy heavy duty handles if you want to go heavy. The cheaper ones are low as $9 a pair or come with the basic tube style bands.

Nexus is still an awesome and unique bar in its own right. The benefits of their bar is that it is always ready to go and the built in carabiner allows for a very secure way to use heavy bands. With the Collar Hooks, while I used heavy thick bands, I still think that's an advantage for the stand alone bar systems I've covered on the channel is the ability to handle very heavy loads.
