Magueys are great out in the woods, like your place. They're great lined up in rows on farms. Not so great, however, in one's lawn where I made the mistake years ago of planting four or five. Those babies GROW, and you have a challenge on your hands. I've gotten rid of them all now, and peace has returned to my yard. All things in their proper place, I say. Nice video.

That might be a yucca and the leaves and root has soap-like properties. Native American women used that as shampoo! The pods are also edible when fresh although I have not heard that they are too tasty. Some agaves are pollinated by only one species of pollinator. I think this one on the video is only pollinated by the yucca moth.

Do you have to wait for the seed pods to dry out before pulling them off the stalk? I have an Agave Lopantha that bloomed and is dropping a bunch of seed pods. I had no idea where the seeds were until I stumbled across this video. There are still tons on the stalk but they are not dry yet. I want to cut them before they fall and I lose them. Can I do that or do I have to wait until they are all dried up?

In my experience, when the first ones open up, you can cut the others when they are still green and then put them in a spot to dry out and open. I put them on a tarp the seeds can fall on.
