When I was a Boy Scout we learnt "birch bark the Scouts paper". And yes I did earn my 'campfire badge'.

Very very helpfull indeed. And bizarrely, I'm parked up in my work van, right in front of me are 6 White Birch. Never even heard of them before. So yes I've taken a few loose shards off the trunks. It pulls off very easily indeed. Can't wait to try it out on my next camp in the woods. 👍
