Was about to finally go to sleep, then I saw Aikiluca had other plans… Seeing aikido, judo, and BJJ, work together in harmony is like watching the power rangers form the Megazord. All the parts come together to make something streamlined and fluid.

Super cool, props to you for actually showing it in sparring. I watch insane amounts of grappling videos to see rare techniques and this is literally the first time I've seen it executed successfully in sparring. What additionally sticks out to me is you integrate it well with other grappling, its no gi so things are slippier, and you don't have particularly large hands so it doesn't seem attribute based. Very impressive!

Trained 7 yrs Akido when I was younger (20’s) found it mildly useful … now I’ve been doing BJJ for 4 yrs (blue belt) and I’ve started adding Akido in for takedowns and controls. I’m at the beginning with it but I’m finally seeing its true uses in combat! Great vid, I can totally relate! Please more examples and techniques on this sir! 🙇🏼‍♂️

I remember seeing rokas try a wrist lock on seth (who is also a champ) and it not "working" but I did notice his body was very much off balance and thought why not setup a takedown glad to see Im not alone

As a purple belt I always want it to cross train with aikido but always got lazy to pass all the bllshido first. Cool that you already have good experience on more high percentage techniques

This is amazing to see. I think that grappling should evolve way more than just bjj and wrestling techniques, and incorporate judo and aikido as well, you can see this with Justin Flores who is a black belt in both judo and bjj, but also a former d1 wrestler, how he mix everything together and performs very god and smooth takedowns with more efficiency and dominance in the transition to the bjj techniques. If we also incorporate more of this aikido techniques we could have a more diverse, efficient and beautiful fights

Roy Dean, a very legit BJJ black belt started off in Judo and Aikido, then transitioned to BJJ, and blends all 3 arts very beautifully.

I think just about any serious Judo or BJJ student will acknowledge that studying Akido techniques will be useful for someone who already has significant Judo or BJJ knowledge. Especially in a purely grappling scenario. The issue most people have with Akido is that it is generally taught without live sparring or any other type of near full resistance. And I think this is in large part because it seems to focus on the more complicated or intricate moves and combinations within the old jujutsu curriculum, the ones you would normally learn only after you would learn the more basic moves that Judo and BJJ focus on.
@jamesbyrne3033
@jamesbyrne3033 Күн бұрын
@robertetin1156 That’s not really an issue since a lot of people who practice aikido, aren’t interested in sparring and all those who are can do so if they wish. The issue that most people have with aikido is that they try to judge it before they learn even the first thing about it.

Growing up in the 90s as a kid watching Steven Seagal, I found him more interesting than any martial artist of the time. Just flipping people around, only to find out it doesnt work that way in real fights 🤣 i would get punched, elbowed, headbutted trying to do his moves. Judo however worked well. I also loved hapkido

Started with Kuk Sool Won. I've got nothing but shit about it, until I started doing BJJ. I can't tell you how instrumental KSW as been in my success starting BJJ. People really underestimate the similarity between all arts. I do wish I could get those wrist locks more often!

I’ve trained in several arts to include Aikido and BJJ. The wrist and joint locks from Aikido translate very well to your BJJ Game. You always got to experiment, that is how you learn. When I was a white belt in BJJ, I was known as a dirty wrist locker. 😂

Does wristlocks look very familiar with Japanese jiu jitsu, where i have some experience in. Is there a big difference between aiki jiu jitsu/aikido and Japanese jiu jitsu in your opinion?
@aikistudio111
@aikistudio111 Күн бұрын
Not a big difference technically, depends on the schools. Mainly the philosophy and methodology of practice varies. They all share the same parent arts so it’s common to see the same techniques spread throughout them.

You are here by charged with the task of revolutionizing the art of Aikido so that it fits in the modern world and becomes viable. Kano did it to Jujutsu, Many Brazilians have been involved with the evolution of BJJ (Some families claim more than others), You can do the same for Aikido. Keep what's good, push off what's bad. Or don't. Its up to you.

When you do the wrist lock and they pull guard why not press down with the foot or the knee on the chest? Is that illegal or something in bjj ruleset? I mean i get it, it looks like you could break a sternum doing

Not sure the point, you have been grappling judo and jitsu, so clearly you will do well with jitsu blue belts regardless of what other martial arts inspire your style, the fundamentals of grappling and understanding the task of what you are doing because you have been doing it live is why it works for you. Remember jiu jitsu is not a list of moves jiu jitsu is an approach to grappeling.
