Here I search the river for collectible bottles that have worched out of the river bank and been swept downstream. I also use my homemade underwater viewer for a little while. I find some milk bottles and explain what I see as it pertains to nature, animals, wildlife, dumps and how to best search them.

I like your longer videos. Thanks for making these, been watching for about a year now. maybe one day ill do some Junk hunting of my own, but more importantly, id like to get on the rivers one day. I used to go rafting once or twice a year, absolutely loved it. your videos remind me of it so much, so thanks. I was reading in the comment just now and someone asked about seeing your collection. during the winter when you have some down time, you should make a video showcaseing and explaining your favorites within your collection, I say favorites and not best because sometimes the story makes the peice and not the value of it. Just a small suggestion.

From the Wampole and company bottle, OH, the in intrigue: " Philadelphia, April 25, 1908 Charges of defalcation and misuse of his firm's funds, made when the body of Henry K. Wampole was found on September 8, 1906, in North River, New York. after his mysterious disappearance from a hotel in that city, were recalled this week when Albert J. Koch and S. Ross Campbell, his surviving partners, filed an answer in Court of Common Pleas. No. 5, in the suit of Henry S. Wampole, administrator of the Wampole estate, for a full accounting by Koch and Campbell. A brief history of the firm is given in the answer, telling how it was organized in 1886 for the manufacture of pharmaceutical and chemical products."

Love your videos btw, forgot to mention that, but I really enjoy your content and sense of humor. can't stand some of the other people who do similar vids but yours are always very well done and I really appreciate the historical information that you include about the items and what they are. I'm down in Tampa FL so no chances of finding any of that awesome stuff down here so I have to live vicariously thru your videos lol. I suppose I could travel over to the east coast and scuba if I had the equipment and try to look for coins and such but no cool war stuff for me, Anyway keep up the great work and looking forward to many more. take care man.

You should have changed the angle of your glasses on the camera. It looked like you had them 90 degrees from how you wear the glasses when you put them in front of the camera. Polarizing filters are made up with lots of little parallel lines. The amount of glare that is reduced depends on the angle of the lines with respect to the glare. Try holding them up in front of you and look at the glare, then rotate them. You will see the glare change as you change the angle.

I saw some questions on cleaning bottles. The best way "not the safest way" I've found is soaking them in the works toilet bowl cleaner. I put them in five gallon buckets and pour it on. leave them in there for a couple days. they wipe clean. BE CAREFUL WERE THICK RUBBER GLOVES, DO THIS OUTSIDE, DON'T BREATH THE FUMES, WEAR GOGGLES FACE SHIELD COULDN'T HURT.

Way off base here with a question. You look to be the best one to ask. Have you ever hunted streams in Florida? There was Civil War ( War Between the States, Virginia boy here) activity/battle in Olustee, Fl. Thinking on driving up and checking out Olustee creek staying away for the battlefield park. Not sure if the gators would make that a bad idea. Your post are always great. I've learned a lot from them.

I live near the Kalamazoo River in Michigan and there are local groups that organize "clean ups", usually in the spring along the river banks. Our waterways are getting better. Northern Michigan is much better, maybe they were never as bad as the more populated areas. The Kalamazoo was awful when I was growing up because of all the paper companies dumping waste in it. It was white/milky green...could not see the bottom. I always thought that my fingers would fall off if I touched it. There are people that would love the bottles you discard. People also buy old glass shards to use in art projects. It would help if you could post the coordinates of where you are hunting, so others can collect.

I live in NSw, Australia and down by my local lake I've found some old bottles. But when I say "old bottles" I mean bottles from the 1920-1970s. Unfortunately, locally, that's just about as old as history gets (some artefacts from the 1800s would be around but still)

If it's cobalt blue glass, Noxema, Vicks, Pepto Bismal, is collectable, screw band or not. Simple because it is glass because all new products are sold in plastic containers. Old colored glass is becoming extinct. Sell them on E-bay, they will sell.😊

Nice milk bottle finds! I have found a few I made a viewing device similar to yours using two number #10 tins tops and bottoms removed, duct-taped together with a round piece of plexiglass on the bottom, and a handle attached. While I was going up a river years ago,, a fisherman scolded me for poaching with a gaff, he thought, until I showed him my old bottles.

Polarized lenses work better the correct way round, Chig! If you'd held them with the frame across instead of up and down, there would have been a more visible difference to the reflected glare. Do a google search on how a polarized lens works!
@KeithSylvesterAdventures
@KeithSylvesterAdventures 8 жыл бұрын
Someone may have already said this but you probably needed to rotate the glasses 90 degrees over the lens. Looks like you had it rotated vertically. You can see the polarization change if you tilt your head 90 degrees while looking through them. The orientation matters with polarizers.

Hello chiggs, the polarised glasses are sensitive to how you hold them. Try to hold them in front of the camera and turning them, you will se that they work for you. I saw that you held them from the bottom of the camera and that is of by 45 degrees. Cheers Eric

Also, any bottle with hexagonal sides are very collectable, even old screw tops but the better ones are cork top. So, the shape and designs of the bottle or on the bottle, ( raised lettering ) make them collectable.😉

those embossed sodas are more easily sold than a lot of the cork top medicine bottles - you had one around 24 minutes in that had a real interesting shape - some people call those "deco" sodas - as they are somewhat art deco looking - I would have taken that one - if it has a weird shape and its NOT a coke bottle - probably worth grabbing -
