Just impressed that the screw heads on the bezel of the Chopard is aligned with the curves. It might sound easy but alignment of screws are incredible hard to do and are usually not done even at the highest level of watchmaking.

The reason they are aligned is the same as on the Bell & Ross BR03 (on the Royal Oak it’s obvious as the heads are hexagonal and can’t turn). The actual screws go in through the backplate into the hollow ones the heads of which you see on the front. On the back the screw heads are not aligned.

My advice on the chopard alpine eagle: It is great because it is in between the A.P Royal oak which is just way too angular for me and the Patek Philippe nautilus just looks look weird to me like a tele tubbies head. The Alpine Eagle is a moderate evolution of traditional watch making design

JLC and Chopard for me. The rant about Chopard being a copy maybe just missed the point of what a simple good watch is. We all know why ppl cannot get a Nautilus or a RO these days because they all use the rolex/debeers marketing strategy. Back 5 years ago, you can easily find an AP 15300st at around $15k, which is just a little bit above this Chopard cost now on market.

The Reverso shown is not the handwound but the quartz version. Recognized by missing guilloche pattern in the center of the dial, which the mechanical version would have. It is also not the 'small' size as the seller claims, it is in fact the medium. Easily recognized by the strap size as well as the applied JLC logo on the dial, rather than a stamped dial (if it had been the small). Just shows how little these supposed experts know about the watches they sell. Can't even get it right for a video.

Christian also admits that he’s judging the Chopard via social media / press release and not via the watch. That should disqualify his opinion on whether the watch is any good, since he’s admitted to a prejudice. He should let the fashion influencers do their thing… why worry about them? Review the watch on the merits of the watch, that’s what watch reviewers do. He’s openly saying he’s incapable of that, which disqualifies him as a reviewer of watches.

Between these two collections, sorry Christian but I have to go with the Chopard and the JLC. While the Chopard doesn't really speak to me, it's unoffensive enough that I would wear it. I recently picked up a reverso duoface medium, so I'm biased there. :-D. The Octo Finissimo is, I'm sorry, hideous. It's far too wide for your skinny wrist, and for my equally (or more?) skinny wrist. Maybe, ironically, if it were thicker it'd actually look better-proportioned. It's also a hideous shape overall. I saw a photo of Matthew McConaughey wearing one and I thought it looked hideous on him as well. Not exactly great if a famous actor can't make it look good either. Something about the large rectangular plinth that the octagonal and circular face shapes sit upon. Awful. I appreciate the non-standard choice in the Nomos, but it's too plain for me. In case you think I could never enjoy something with a spare Teutonic design, my girlfriend bought me a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope which is gorgeous, about the most spare design you could imagine (and a icon of Bauhaus design), and costs far less than the Nomos. Not an in-house caliber, but a little birdie (ahem) told me design was more important than "in house caliber," especially given the histories of Patek and AP and (ahem) Cartier using outside movements in their most iconic watches. Soooooo, yeah, Chopard and JLC.
