Love this series y'all! Far as I'm concerned, you should do it forever. Not sure I agree with your perspective on Tim and the detolfs though. Detolfs aren't a "mansion", they're one of the cheapest and easiest to buy glass cases around. Sure, a Hasbro collection isn't the same as an MP/3P one, but if someone has a great Hasbro collection (which this undoubtedly is) and has that pride in it and wants to display that in a polished way without breaking the bank (which is why someone will collect Hasbro in the first place), detolfs are an obvious way to go. General issues with detolfs and a TF collection of any kind to one side, I think Tim's done a great job. Figures are posed and spaced. He's got risers, he's got size variety, his lighting is clean. He's close to where he should be. What I'd love to see maybe a year from now would be some update episodes where people who've submitted to this show share w/ us what they've done since, if they've taken some of the critiques on board and improved things etc. Seeing that evolution and how your advice has helped would be super awesome.

@lindyxmjh45893 жыл бұрын
I think Bobby was just kidding around a bit, he knows Detolfs are cheap, and he knows all about Hasbro stuff being on display because his house is full of their products from other lines and he's even got some like the Titans in his own TF display. Sure retail product isn't really considered high end collectible display pieces, but if you present them well (like I think Tim did with a lot of those shelves) they can work and look pretty good.

One hundred percent agreed with you. We've seen some crazy stuff in people's collections throughout this series and for the most part bad comments are not made about the figure choice unless it's Hasbro stuff. I get it though, this series is about genuine criticism that's helpful and fun in the process and this team is spot on. I enjoy it, laugh, and learn something in the process.

I knew someone who kept his collections in shipping brown boxes. His whole apartment was stacked with brown boxes. So I told him he's got a great collection of brown boxes. Eventually, I was able to convince him that being a collector, a toy collector, isn't something to be ashamed of. He needed to display them appropriately, whether in a box or out of. He ended up going all out and started thinking of them as pieces of art, to be displayed with thought and care. I think he's much happier now.
@Rakerong3 жыл бұрын
That's the way to go. Whatever you like you have to take pride and joy in it and display it. I would actually be more inclined to know what's in all those boxes and when I find out it's all figures...it's like it defeats the purpose of keeping them on the DL lol. Glad to hear your buddy decided to embrace displaying them now!

That blanket or curtain that Tim has hanging up behind the cases is pretty neat. I like it when displays include unique pieces like vintage merchandise, it's fun to see and gives that particular collection some character as opposed to what can sometimes amount to just the same exact figures and/or characters over and over again in different set-ups.

Hi BSF, thanks again for reviewing my display. Mine was the last one on the video and it meant a lot for you to say you had been looking forward to reviewing it for a while. Yes, you were the one that got me into doing diarama's. I just feel like it gives them more life and presence which for me gives me a reason to collect them. I'm very limited on space so I tried to utilize my space as much as I could. Its not a fish tank on top even though I did consider using one. I built the top part myself to use all the available space as possible. I wish you could've seen my new diarama's as I feel like I'm getting better as I go. It would be cool if you could review our display a year down the road to compare what we had to what we have now to see how we took your advice and made it better. Anyways, love you channel and love this segment. Keep it up and just want to say I'm a true fan. Also, tell Robert he needs to summit his display so you guys can review it, that would be funny. Thanks again.

I love watching these videos because it helps me look at my collection differently, also glad I went with installing several Billys over just having a few detolfs coz they'd have had mainly Hasbro bots in them. I wish that bedsheet had been out on display instead of hidden behind the detolfs coz I hardly ever see old merch like that and it looked like it was in good knick. The all in box shelf though made me think of being in a store, while parts of it looked interesting there was a lot of clutter that let it down.

Good episode. The first collection with the boxes I can totally relate to, I want to open all my figures, but I also want to keep them new. I kept getting new figures, but never had time to open them because for the longest time I had no where to display them. Eventually I had such a back log I just kept buying figures and just kept them sealed. I have an appreciation for the boxes due to the my line of work. Not for nothing, fish tanks or similar ones may be the way to go to do displays. It makes it a more eye catching option instead of detolfs which give off more of a store window display vibe or convention display vibe showing off upcoming merchandise. I have an acrylic display case that I got specifically to put a 1/6 scale figure in and it always looks nice on it's own. I can imagine getting a few more and setting up a fairly nice section and tailored to displaying Transformers with more emphasis on utilizing the vertical space and not bunch them all together.
@albineigengrau32123 жыл бұрын
I can see the point of that first guy's shelves (which I'm just going to call "Schrödinger's Collection) if he's more of a "messing with" than a "display" person. If you take another box down from the shelve, open it, display it on your desk or your living room table for a while to marvel at it and then store it away again, and you keep rotating through your figures in that way, it can keep your collection feeling fresh.
@Rakerong3 жыл бұрын
I can agree with this. It's like, storage out in the open. You enjoy the figures for some time and then put them away in storage, but it's not jammed in plastic containers and instead put back in their boxes. (I recently did the same with some figures I still had the original boxes for)
