I had the great fortune to hear Dennis play & perform about two years ago, in Ventura CA with other amazing artists from Hawaii. This beautiful song brings tears to my eyes....

I looked up the lyrics on Huapala and found that the name of this beautiful song is titled "Wahine ILIKEA". So it is sometimes good to look up reference to a song title before posting it. Yes, Dennis is truly a weaver of story & song and is such an artist to represent Hawai'i & its beautiful music. I have such a big catalog of songs & lyrics that I actually know and can sing along with these fabulous talents . Mahalo Nui Loa to all those who appreciate these artists ! Kaleolani F.

Still the most poetic, beautiful mele every written. The imagery, the knowledge of the places, the winds, the ali`i, the wailele, and put together in such a wonderful way with the melody - oh my, no wonder he has won awards and awards and awards. ost glorious music! (I think you can tell I like this.) Me ke aloha, Auntie Wanda

And (Not to be mistaken), Pua Hone in its own right is ABSOLUTELY one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard.

@wjc1952 I'm not so sure Pua Hone isn't just as good in it's own way, but Wahine 'Ilikea is the only mele I know that turns 'em around from the usual kaona. instead of saying the keiki arms are a lei for the kupuna or referring to na 'opio/ na po'e as na pua, Dennis turned 3 specific waterfalls into the misty IMAGE of a (non-specific) fair complected woman. I cannot help but think of Robi Kahakalau when I hear it (despite honoring Denni's haku'ana). I'm a big fan of Koke'e as well.

I think Dennis would like it if you could somehow change the title from "Wahine Ililea" to "Wahine 'Ilikea".
