8:35 i think usc rejected you because they didn't want to give you a scholarship. same thing happened to me when i applied for class of 2019. i was a national merit finalist, and got rejected. but i got into other top schools like the business schools at cornell and notre dame so i was definitely qualified and should have at least gotten waitlisted. or, perhaps it is just a coincidence that we both got rejected and my theory is completely invalid.
@kennethwang93047 жыл бұрын
I was also a national merit finalist and I applied for their early scholarship date last year and they didn't give it to me, although I eventually got in at the end of March. I saw some guy on youtube a few years ago got in like 4 ivies and vandy and he got rejected from USC, so I think their admissions are just weird. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't waitlist.
@elizabeth-70647 жыл бұрын
USC offers scholarships to international students, really? Because most of the state schools like UCLA don't offer scholarships to international students. I was interested as an international student but most universities that Americas rush to are state schools and are useless for international students looking for scolarships
@aahsimovieprojects7 жыл бұрын
idk my friend got rejected from most top 20s but he got USC and currently goes there on the national merit scholarship. He's also in ROTC. His stats weren't out of this world so I don't think they reject people just because theyre merit finalists.
@matthew_bang6 жыл бұрын
This is why I didn't even apply to USC. I finished the app but didn't submit, yet I was accepted into every UC school. Who needs USC
@jdsce6 жыл бұрын
tbyjb1 lol, you are just straight up dumb. 1. USC has a lot of international masters students but its undergrad international student rate is on par with that of other top 20 private schools, about 14%. In comparison, as a state funded school, UCLA has 12%, oops lol sorry for breaking your dream about UCLA. 2. USC, as a private school, has a universal tuition; international students pay the same amount as American so USC can't make extra money by accepting more international students. It is basic knowledge that private schools can't make extra money off international students. Only public schools do. You are too uneducated to know this? 3. USC does not give scholarship to international students (only in rare occasions) and number of scholarship candidates is fixed. So International students can't take away scholarship opportunities. oops. In conclusion, international student has nothing to do with admissions decisions. "I live in Los Angeles.. No fake news" LMAO. You are so uneducated but trying real hard to be relevant. XD funny

Truly inspirational! Any tips for essays?
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
My biggest tip would be to start writing your essays during the summer because you'll be super stressed during the school year. Make sure to spend a lot of time working on them and have other people look at them so you can get other viewpoints. Also, try to write about things that impacted you during your high school years. It's way easier to write about things that you have a personal connection to.

Hey man, congrats on your acceptances. I’m currently a junior doing IBDP and had some questions for you. 1. Did you include your predicted IB score in your application? If yes, mind telling what it was? 2. I’m doing quite good in IB and hoping to get around 36-39 IB points but my freshman and sophomore year my GPA was 3.5. I’m hoping to get 3.9-4.0 GPA this year and maybe next year. My SAT is 1400 (gonna retake and aim for 1500). Not crazy ECs but pretty okay. Do you think my low GPA in the first two years of HS gonna affect my chances a lot? Or will the predicted scores make up? Also, even tho GPAs have bad start, it’s an upward trend. Most of the unis in my list are the ones you applied to as well so wanted to hear your opinion. Thanks and sorry for this long essay

Can anyone explain what "deffered" means? I am from Europe, and would like to know more about American school systems, so if anyone could explain, would be awesome.
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
Some universities have both an early and a regular deadline. If you apply by the early deadline, the school may choose to defer you rather than admit or deny you. When you are deferred, that means the university will reevaluate your application as part of the regular decision pool and only then give you a final decision of admitted, waitlisted, or denied.
@donttouchthis10007 жыл бұрын
When you say "early and a regular deadline", do you mean early action or early decision?
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
Julie Shriver You can be deferred in both early decision and early action. If you are deferred during ED and accepted later during regular decision, you are not forced to go to the school. I personally did not apply ED to any schools because my top choices did not offer ED.

Don't worry yet haha definitely enjoy the first two years of HS. Work hard and do what interests you, you'll have plenty of time to stress out later.

I'm also applying for computer science, and was looking at a lot of the public schools you applied to (UW, UT, UC, Michigan), but now I'm not sure because I've heard they don't give a lot of scholarship to out-of-state students. What was your situation with this? Did they give you a lot of money? And if not, did you need a lot of money? Thanks!
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
Yeah most OOS public schools don't give much scholarship money because they know there are a lot of people who will pay the full price to attend. Ultimately, the reason I stayed in-state is because I was getting a top-tier education at a pretty decent price.

How involved were you in school? How many extracurriculars did you participate in?
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
I was pretty involved in school. I focused a lot on 3-4 extracurriculars (and gained board positions in them) rather than trying to do a lot with less focus.

hey man i'm just wondering how many APs did you take in high school?
@twopar46674 жыл бұрын
My school didn't have APs but we had something called IB which is like the international equivalent. I took IB exams in 6 different subjects (max possible)

twopar dang... man idk how you do it. I try so hard I and I get all As and 1 B for the 2 quarters. Then I took my semester exams, and got 5 Bs and 2 As for the semester :(. rip any chance for me to get into any of those schools. I hate exams like that, they screw me over for 18 weeks of hardwork because I just can't take tests. this year really screwed me over and made GPA drop down to a 3.5 unweighted. I hate it.
@twopar46677 жыл бұрын
MedicOnDrugs Keep believing in yourself. You can do it! Remember that GPA isn't the only thing colleges look it and where you go doesn't matter; all that matters is what you do. Keep working hard in school because hard work never goes unnoticed. I'm sure you'll end up in a great place.

robomaster1176 In my school, A-s do not count as As so if I had received an A-, I wouldn't have had a 4.0 UW GPA
