Just a bit of advice that you can take or leave but it is a LOT less stressful if you start studying for finals 2-3 or so weeks in advance for a few hrs a day. I didnt really start doing this until my junior year of college (the year I just finished), but once I did man it was sweet getting to sleep 8 hrs a night while everyone around was panicking. I study chemistry/math so most of my exams are written and we dont have many papers but Im sure doing papers this way is less stressful as well.

The beginning of Wed morning was my life during finals week of med school! Everyone gets up to study at like 7am and even being a med student I sleep until 2 or 3!!! So I felt that part when you were like “Yeah, it’s almost 3....” But then I end up studying until around 6am. Literally 16-24 hour studying days even with studying 8 hours every regular day. 😩 And 5 hour exams. Will be worth it one day!

Alyssa Dominy It’s not easy! But if it’s truly what you want you can do it! If you are accepted then they believe you can do it so no reason to be afraid. It’s an adaptation but you get used to it. Take some time shadowing and volunteering to figure out if it’s what you really want. You’ve got time 😀 I had so many med students and residents tell me not to go down this road but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Alyssa Dominy and don’t let med students tell you they have no fun or get no sleep. I may have a whack sleep schedule but I still get 6-9 hours as most students do. And there is plenty of partying that goes on after big exams lol. I was so afraid it would be like jail but yeah I let people scare me too so don’t let me do it to you. Like I said you just have to want it

I feel like my freshman year finals were a lot worse compared to my sophomore year. Probably because I got so much more stuff on top of school work that I HAD to manage my time well
