It’s crazy, you can’t truly control your player because you get sucked into stupid animations. Not to mention the lack of depth in dynasty. mode. It’s sad that an almost 20 year old game has better gameplay and WAY more depth to dynasty mode, but that’s where we are

@@arhickernell I played Madden for a few years before I got my first NCAA game for 06, and I LOVED being able to run that game for a season and then import that draft class into Madden 06. If you paid attention while playing your college season, you had an idea of who the best players in the NFL draft were going to be. It kept the stat ratings nearly the same for the drafted players coming out of college. Tim Tebow was a monster.

People are comparing this unfairly to Madden alone. We need to have a deep dive into the features we had in NCAA 14 vs the features in this mess. I couldn't put NCAA 14 down and even a few months ago was still playing it. I can't get into this at all. There are many things we are missing. The Frostbite engine sucks on the field and the menus suck off the field. There is a reason the user score on Metacritic is a 6.5.

I am getting the itch to play football again. I do have NCAA14 and Madden 25. Unfortunately, the import draft class is completely borked. I ran a first season in both, imported the draft class, and the best players were 60's in their OVR. The fastest guy in the draft was a WR, and I honestly don't know who it was. He had 99SPD in college, in the NFL draft, he comes out with an 87. The best OL in the draft had high 90's in blocking skills and STR in college. I the NFL draft the same guy has 83STR and blocking skills in the 60's and 70's. And these guys were top 5 draft picks. Like....why would I even bother to draft players like that? My alternative is to play NCAA06 and Madden 06 because that was the only other time I bought both games for the same year.

To me, this is what they did. They imported what they could from NCAA14 and did so in a nerfed way. The coaching tree and the recruiting. They added small tweaks to it to make it seem, "new." The body specific wear and tear system is from NFL Head Coach 09, and they did it better. To this day, I still say that is the best football game EA ever made. The problem is, there is no franchise mode. You can't create a player or a team, and you can't play it on the field. It is a coach mode only game. The sheer depth of that game is unmatched in any game before or since. Then they took that mess, patched it over the Madden code, tweaked the game speed, and boom, "rebuilt from the ground up."

No body looks past them. No perfect game exists. I loved nfl 2k5 but going back and playing I realize I overlooked a ton of bad gameplay quirks and simply enjoyed the fun that was there to be had. Ryan and his community hones in on only the bad and there is a lot but if you simply play the game for the fun that there is you will find that there is a ton to enjoy. This is true for almost every game , movie, song, show, sport, etc. life is too short to nitpick and be miserable about every single experience

The AI was far more better because games played out the way they should. You couldn't spam "cheese" plays because the CPU would learn your tendencies. You are looking at that game through rose tinted glasses. It was very fun especially for its time but y'all are insane to say that gameplay was near perfect or realistic. the running is so robotic and clunky and you can run into players with no reaction from the ai......I digress because I do love that game. @@HunnaD2003 Greed and lack of effort absolutely but this community calls nfs 2k5 perfect, better than current madden, and the gold standard while saying current Madden is unplayable and garbage and CFB25 is junk and that's so stupid that its comical. in a blind test, show someone gameplay from both (not graphics, blur it to take graphical fidelity out the equation) and I guarantee you everyone would say madden is the closest representation of real NFL football. Simulation football in video game form IS NOT FUN and that's why older games felt more fun and loose and free. the controls were simple, the inputs were super consistent because there were very few variables.

Some people actually have the nerve to say "skill issue" to anyone who doesn't suck this game off. Like yeah I feel so skillful when all I have to do on offense is abuse the verticals play and chances are someone is wide open 40+ yards down the field and if he catches it, he out runs the entire defense because everyone on offense is cranked tf up in this game. If that doesn't happen, chances are the tight end doing an in route on that play will be open or I can just run with the QB and get 30 yards doing that. Great game design EA

Ryan. One time I scrambled with my QB the defense just froze. I said wtf. Bruh... Also so many times I got them on like 3rd and 15 and I called a safe play. Cover 6 zone. I took a picture of the screen on my RTG campaign. In the Top Stories side screen, it gives a recap of the National Championship. The headline reads "Oklahoma emerges victorious in a 14-41 thriller again Tennessee" Two problems, a blowout like that isn't a thriller. What are you even talking about. But more importantly, when it shows the final score, it says "FINAL/OT" HOW THE HELL DID THAT GAME GO TO OT!?! 14 - 41? I have the screen shot if Moody wants to see it. It's just another little nit-pick of an EA mistake that really takes you out of the whole simulation experience.

I love how I pointed out a "nano blitz" exploit on a 4-3 blitz where only the DL is rushing where all you have to do is select one of two zone defense calls, line up, user your MLB, creep him toward the LOS prior to the snap, once the ball is hiked you instantly drop him back into coverage and then the OL freaks out while two rushers warp through the OL and cause an instant one or two free rushers in the QB's face before the QB finishes his drop back and/or can trigger a pass animation. The responder claims that this is something that happens in the NFL with an overload blitz when the defense might "send the house." Completely neglecting the fact that....this isn't what the play is. It is a standard 4 man rush.

That awkward start to the play tells you that before the play even unfolds the computer has decided you are screwed on this play if you try to complete a pass. It's already telegraphing that it's a dice roll in favor of the defense. When you recognize these things early in a play, with EA, The best thing to do is find a way to throw the ball away or scramble for a few yards because anything else is sure to become an animation disaster against you

What is interesting to me is that there is supposed to be head tracking system in place, right? Player has to see the ball to make a play on it. I can sort of forgive the HB not being able to make a catch there because he didn't turn his head around quick enough, but he just stands there like a zombie and doesn't even try to raise his hands to either make a catch or protect the ball from the defender. What is even more curious is that the defender also does not trigger an animation. Isn't he supposed to be tracking the ball? He's facing the play the whole time. If he saw the pass and made a break on it, under cut the route, and made a pick, that would have actually been realistic. But no, he also stands there like a zombie because he's not looking at the ball at all. He's looking at the receiver. Since the receiver doesn't trigger an animation, the defender also doesn't trigger an animation. Neither of them react until after the ball plays pong with them both.

I enjoy NCAA 25 and I believe it is one of the best games EA has made this decade, but it is ultimately just a VERY finely polished turd that is Madden 06 on 7th gen. One day I hope EA realizes they have to move on from frostbite and start from scratch, and they should therefore take multiple years to make a game that will be light years ahead of what we have now. What is sad is that they never will, but yet we have the technology to make something spectacular 😭

QB threw the ball way too soon. You have to wait for that curl route to develop before you throw it. If the rb was running a seam route, it would have had a better chance of being a completed pass. The user panicked and paid the price and even he knows it lol

Not saying the game doesn’t have issues because it obviously does but in this specific play looks like he throws the ball to the running back before he was looking for the ball since his button icon wasn’t highlighted. Running back doesn’t see the ball go behind him and he switches to the receiver and presses a button and that’s why he got a late catch animation. Not excusing the ball physics on the interception though

I stated before this game came out that EA will find ways to screw things up and they're going in that path with all the bugs and copy and paste gameplay from Madden 24 with college atmosphere

I know a lot of games tend to have an occasional. What are you doing? Why did you do that moment? Where the character accidentally does something that you didn't intend to do. But still, the number of times that it happens in EA's current sports games is ridiculous.

EAs football games play you, not the other way around. User input is barely a variable involved in any of these games. Dice rolls decide what happens. Madden sucks, and by proxy, so does this game, because if it isnt evident by now...CFB is built off Madden. The foundation these games are built on, is shit. Smushed shit, from all the years of stacking on top of it. Its never been rinsed off. Its now everywhere. Shit in every crevice. You just have to throw those shoes out and start fresh with a new pair lol

I love College Football 25 also, but wish EA had included all of the FCS Schools? Dynasty is so lame with generic FCS teams? The game is not as realistic as EA claims?

I can see the hb having a delay reaction to the ball because as soon as he turns, the ball is right at his head. With that being said, there is no way ea would program that.

Listen. I agree with you on the gameplay and how it needs major changes but the overall game is still fun. This gameplay will most likely be better than maddens anyways and outside gameplay CFB 25 is still fun and is better than madden will probably be for Atleast another decade. Screw madden and hopefully more people realize that madden is not the option for this year because I’m definitely not getting it. Have a good one Ryan.
