NFL teams know exactly the formula for making the playoff and their seeding and no one argues comes playoff time, wish college football could do the same, example: there are 10 conferences and we all know there are 4 big ones, expand to 16 and allow the top 3 teams for the 4 bigs in that would make 12 and the last 4 come from the 6 conferences whoever is ranked the highest out of those 6 and spread them out for great matchups. Def not a perfect way but maybe a way to help take the human factor out and you kind of know what you have to do to get in. Let's say USC beats Clemson, dog walks Clemson 38-17ish. A&M beats Texas, Syracuse beats Miami. Clemson then beats SMU in the ACC championship & A&M beats GA in the SEC championship game. You then have 2 confernce champions who most likely get automatic bids into the playoffs, both of whom got boat raced by South Carolina who is left just outside the playoff picture. I know you're just wanting to hate on the format, particularly auto bids, but I mean the reality is, in the scenario you listed out a true rankings also wouldn't matter. If Texas and Georgia both lost to A&M, do they really deserve to be a top 4 team, or a top 10 team even? We think A&M after their loss to unranked Auburn is the #20 team. The chances of them winning both games is incredibly low, so the current seeding and bracketing matter. Yeah if they won they'd probably snag...I wanna say the 3rd spot because it's the SEC. But if they won those games and we just had a strict rankings system, guess what they probably also move way the hell up because (as evidenced by Alabama's current ranking) the committee cares about the SEC just that little bit more. As for three ACC teams. Give me the team by team breakdown of why Duke and Syracuse are unranked, but Illinois and Mizzou are? How about UNLV? They literally lost to Syracuse. Why are they in the top 25? Texas A&M for that matter, a three loss team. Why are they in? Because they beat LSU and Mizzou? The former is now 7-4 and spiraling, and the latter is the worst 3 loss team in the country right now. You did at least touch on the disrespect to the Big 12, because my god how are Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina all ahead of every 2 loss Big 12 team. You could convince me of South Carolina (pretty easily based on their recent play), but Bama just lost in embarrassing fashion to a 5-5 Oklahoma that hasn't been able to produce a single ounce of offense this season. Ole Miss...they're just a waste of talent. I don't know what's going on there, but losing to the Gators the way they did....they should probably asked to be ranked lower.

Maybe not quite as much as a regular season game, but to think you can lose and it shouldn’t matter is ridiculous.

Here is how I'd do it: Final CFP rankings would be posted on "Giving Tuesday": 1-7 are in, regardless of what happens. 8-12 are "on the Bubble" depending on the results of the Championship games. No further rankings. Conference champs earn byes based on their pre-championship ranking. In practical terms, #8 would usually be in, while #12's only shot is a conference title game. We could add a caveat that if a Conference Champ isn't on that final ranking, regardless of Conference, it's ineligible for the CFP. And, if 3 or fewer Champs are on the final CFP rankings, then the remaining Byes fall to the highest at-larges in order.

Fans want good competetive football games, and fans love the style of every March Madness with its “Cinderella” opportunity. None of that fun & excitement has been the CFP history. Add the overriding econimic control by Media only wanting BIg TV market teams, and you get this kind of debate. Players opting out of bowl competition is another clear indicator of where college football stands on ECONOMICS FIRST. Just my opinion …

An SEC conference runner up with 4 losses SHOULD miss out. Regardless of conference, ANY team with 4 losses SHOULD be left out.

Sec plays a 9 game scedule, like the big ten, that's 8 more losses for the conference and no way the sec does'nt take a hit in the rankings.

Everyone bugging about Alabama, when your team brings in the money that Alabama does, then voice your opinion lol. Georgia vs anyone else, will be big, Georgia vs bama, will be huge. Anyone against bama will be bigger, just how it is. We’re one of the states without a pro team, so we are literally die hard bama fans around here. I have family and friends almost in every state and they’re all Alabama fans mostly.

It's funny about being punished for losing the championship game and nobody else has had it happen to more than the SEC, particularly UGA. Three times they lost in championship game that eliminated them from the playoffs they were in before the game. Last year they were undefeated and #1 losing to Alabama and dropped to 6. Horse crap

South Carolina should jump ole piss and bama if they win handily at Clemson. And should get in playoffs over acc champ loser! And I’ll stand by that, SC didn’t lose to Kentucky or Vandy, or Oklahoma, in fact we beat all 3 by at least 3 TDs. Not to mention the fact they robbed us in the LSU game with 2 pick 6s called back and a phantom opi, and we lost our QB at half. If bama gets in over us I’m rioting and you better watch ur back if ur on that committee 🤬
@MikeJones-ct6on3 күн бұрын
But they did lose to both teams you want them to jump
@rhettsumner51273 күн бұрын
@MikeJones-ct6on i cannot deny that. But if you ignore the LSU hosing that would make them a 2 loss team, and assuming the Clemson win, they would have a 6 game win streak and by far the best out of conference win out of the 3. The committee has shown a few weeks prior they don’t value h2h as the end all be all. So if #15 SC beats #12 Clemson handily, you think they should just move all 3 up 1 one instead of us jumping them?

The loser to a conference championship game really should make the playoffs. Otherwise, what incentive do you have? You're good enough to make it to the playoffs without the championship, but then get punished for playing an extra game? A bunch of teams will make the playoff without being forced to play that extra game- it would put great pressure for the Big Ten or SEC to drop that game in the future since their runner ups will never let the conference live it down. The conferences themselves would like put pressure on the NCAA and the committee should they do that.

Carolina had the Bama and LSU game stolen. We all know this. They are better than most teams in that bracket. Get real. The best teams should go not focused on conference champs. So if you win all conference games and lose the rest they should go please.

There have been so many twists, turns, upsets etc this year that it’s almost guaranteed to happen one more time and give a team like Alabama a way back but the problem is…Auburn beating them is perfectly plausible and counts as a typical upset we’ve seen over the last few weeks.

If any other team lost like Alabama did to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. They would not be ranked in the top 20. The SEC bias plus inflation of putting Missouri at 21. Its CRAZY!
@bryanrichardson64013 күн бұрын
You’re right except it’s not so much SEC bias as it is Alabama bias. It’s ridiculous that Bama has 2 bad losses to teams that SC blew out. The committee is bought and paid for. Such a joke.

Explain this to the committee. Leave UGA out last year for the only loss being in the conference championship. Championship stolen off the field.

We went from BCS to this silly format. Where are the smart people in the room? There is a simple solution for all of this. All conferences will follow this format. Sec for example: There are 16 teams, 8 in each division. East and West. Never play the team in the other division. You can switch divisions based off of power rankings to keep conference balance every year. Every team in the division will play. That would be 7 games in this example. You have 5 games left for non-conference that you could schedule any team in college football. Ones that you never played to strengthen your playoff rankings if you should make it. In this example let's say that is Texas, they could schedule Oregon, pen state, UCLA, two small schools that would be 12 games leaving one game for sec title. Let's say Georgia have the best record in the other division who will do the same as far as their schedule. the two play each other for Sec championship. Winner moves on and all teams in that conference goes home! How silly is it to have a conference champion and send three to four teams to a playoff in that same conference, causing teams to play each other 2 and 3 times ridiculous! You don't even need a committee to put teams in a playoff, only seed them when a conference champion is crowned. No one can challenge me on this format.
