Here's an interesting fact about ASU: Playoff team records vs ranked opponents: Oregon has played 3 ranked teams and is 3-0 Georgia has played 6 ranked teams and is 4-2 Boise St. has played 2 ranked teams and is 1-1 **ASU has played 4 ranked teams and is 4-0** Texas has played 6 ranked teams and is 4-2 (both losses to Georgia) Penn St. has played 3 ranked teams and is 2-1 Notre Dame has played 4 ranked teams and is 4-0 Ohio St. has played 3 ranked teams and is 2-1 Tennessee has played 4 ranked teams and is 3-1 Indiana has played 1 ranked team and is 0-1 SMU has played 3 ranked teams and is 2-1 Clemson has played 3 ranked teams and is 1-2 Games are played week-to-week. Who stands in front of you is your opponent, not their preseason ranking or postseason ranking. For example, when you prepare for #18 ranked Oklahoma and win, you should get credit for that win, not wait until the end of the season and then dismiss that win because Oklahoma ended outside of the rankings. SOS only matters at the end of the season, but ranked teams are who you play week over week. For example, when Texas beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma was ranked and that increases Texas win value. When Oklahoma beat Alabama, Oklahoma was unranked, and that has a significant impact on Alabama's playoff case. ASU has consistently beaten ranked opponents, and all but one (Iowa State) were ranked ABOVE ASU. ASU will get up for any opponent, and will be a problem for Clemson or Texas.

I really like what the committee did. If we go to a 16-team playoff there will still be bubble teams with gripes that make sense. When it was only two or four teams selected, elite teams with great resumes got left out. Not the case now. SEC can't have it both ways, welcome great teams into your conference, suck up the money, but whine when more Ls for your top teams come with the deal. Besides, there is a slight over-rated aspect in regard to the SEC. In the mid 2000s with Florida blowing out Ohio state and LSU also winning pretty comfortably, the SEC started separating itself, then Alabama re-started its dynasty. How many times though during the season do we see these supposedly vastly superior opponents pushed to the brink by supposedly inferior opponents. Look how many games Georgia had go down to the wire, and they are the #2 seed and justifiably so. I'm fine with conferences from all over the country being represented in the playoffs, and even have byes. Let's see if the supposedly inferior teams get outclassed. Plus, like Greg McElroy said, it's as much about matchups as anything, so let's sit back and enjoy this, as this is about entertainment!

I know some teams that didn't make it in will be upset, but the best takeaway for it is that its best to control your own destiny rather than rely on other teams messing up and hoping the committee picks your team over another team. Alabama has a good enough team to probably beat any team in the top 10, but they can also lose to every one of them. As a Tennessee fan, I was worried up until a lot of late season losses by other teams and with 1 of our 2 losses being to UGA. So SEC schools going forward will know they got about 2 losses to spare.

Agreed. Indiana played 1 ranked team and got hosed. Boise played 1 ranked team and lost. Guess SOS doesn't matter and reschedule all of those future tough games. Doesn't help.

@@Powerflmale Check your rankings again buddy - UNLV is ranked - that gives Boise State 3 ranked games. And in all seriousness in comparing OOC schedules who in the world are you suggesting played a tougher non-conference than at Oregon, at GSU, vs Wazzu, at Oregon State and vs FCS PSU? First of all thats 5 non-conference games, road games at the #1 in the nation, road games vs a runner up G5 team, and 2 games vs previous P5 teams. What in the world does Boise possibly owe you? In the last 4 seasons they have played 3 different P5 conference champions all on the road. Next year they play ND, USF, Washington and App State. In 2026 they play Oregon, Louisville, Memphis and Western Michigan. What team are you that youre scheduling tougher OOC?

I’ve solved College football: +16 team playoff, no one gets a bye +SEC and Big10 both get 4 auto bids with a chance to steal a 5th +Big12 and ACC with 2 auto bids with the chance to steal a 3rd +G5 with two auto bids (picked by CFB committee) + Commissioner of conference (or committee from conf.) decides which teams to send +CFP committee decides seeding of teams that conference sends +During conference championship week CFP matches up ACC vs SEC/ Big10 vs Big12 or ACC vs Big10/ Big12 vs SEC and commissioner of conference (or assigned conference committee) picks team for match up, whichever conference wins gets the extra bid +Win Conference in P4 is auto bid

I am done with college football after this year. I quit watching for 3 years and decided to give it one more chance. I have been watching since Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath days but this mess is sickening and they are very bias and everyone needs to say we are not standing for all this mess. When they started paying all these young guys millions of dollars I knew it was not good. Good luck, give everyone trophies!!!!!!!

Oregon has a harder path than it should as the one seed. That’s not right. No issue with the teams they chose, ie glad they left out Bama. But the one seed should have some advantages over the other top 4 seeds. Specifically Boise St. has an easier path than Oregon for sure.
@AlexanderWinterborn-r6p3 күн бұрын
=/ Wouldn't Boise have to beat Oregon (or the team that beat Oregon)? Champions win. They handle whatever business comes their way. Period.
@cjcurtis89443 күн бұрын
@ I get that, and generally in playoffs the one seed is rewarded more than the 4 seed…
@kenwright54102 күн бұрын
Now people are actually complaining about their path? First of all,just be thankful you are in. Secondly, if you are truly the best team - you will be the national champions no matter who is in your path.
@markblankenship62333 күн бұрын
We learned to make sure we get all contenders that could win it, you need 16. That would put in South Carolina, Miami, Ol Miss and Alabama, four teams which, on a given day, could win it all in a playoff. This would also allow the great record/weak schedule teams in. Suggestion for next year: 1) no conference champs get byes. Only the top 4 ranked teams get a bye; 2) After determining the four teams with byes, bracket teams ranked # 5-8; then, 3) the next 8 teams (ranked 9-16) play for the last four spots in the playoff. That gives you probably all the teams that can actually win it.

12 vs 5 should be playing Oregon or 7 vs 10. Indiana shouldn't be here. As UofO fan, i think Ole Miss is more deserving than SMU. Prefer TN have home field. OSU has the brand but they lost to Michigan.
@johnthoreson87753 күн бұрын
So Oregon beat four contenders in the Big ten and the three that are still alive. Get home games in the playoffs. Oregon had to go on the road for the Big ten championship and have to go on the road for every other game and play a tougher opponent than the people who didn't win every game like they did. This makes sense

We need to stop messing around and go to a full 32-team playoff bracket. College basketball gives us March Madness. College footbale should give us "Winter Wildness"! A full 32-team bracket, no byes, everyon plays. All we have to do is exchange the power 5 conference championship games for the first round of "Winter Wildness"! 16 meaningful games! Not only 5 games while lower ranked teams get a bye week. How WILD would it be to see more teams in the playoffs? Ole Miss, South Caroline, Alabama, BYU, Army Colorado, Syracuse, ...

I warned my friends two weeks ago the brackets would be unbalanced. When #1 and the best at large are set from the get go to be in the same bracket, it skews everything else. This has ONLY to due with seeding not who is in Result: Bracket A 6 playoff team wins 3 conference champions #1 at large At large Big 10 team that beat BOTH conference teams on the other side of the bracket Next best SEC team 6-4 playoff team wins counting 0-2 Texas spread out amongst the bracket Bracket B: 4 PO team wins ONLY GA 2 conference champions including non Power 4 MWC Notre Dame zero games against playoff teams 1-1 in MAC, weak schedule Indiana 1 playoff team, lost weak schedule Penn State lost only two difficult games who happen to be on the other side of the bracket SMU weak schedule no playoff teams until last night 0-5 outside GA playoff team wins Objectively it isn’t close top to bottom within the brackets A. I think auto bids are fine but teams need to be seeded 1-12 regardless of conference championship result (factor yes but not definitive) A #3 seed if truly a # 3 seed would not be playing for its playoff life just to get in, rather it would be playing for seeding B. Re seed like NFL to reward success Btw do a fun exercise before you weigh in seed them 1-12 by reality and also how you would do it by just taking these 12 Trust me, in this exercise you will pleasantly be surprised you will come up with a much more balanced result This needs to be fixed ASAP

Ashton❤️ is the best player and most dominant, and the only player in the country who could’ve lead Boise State past the conference championship game and doing national championship. If anyone can do it it’s him. 🏆 if he has half of his average game, he will break college football’s most yards for a player. He’s already broke in the yards after contact for single-season through eight games this year, that’s gotta be an on beatable record after he says this, especially as it is harder to do what he’s doing today than it was in decades past

@EdD-it1zs3 күн бұрын
No they didn't get it right. Georgia has no quarterback. Georgia should have been left out and the SEC should have to forfeit their first round bye because their conference champion has no quarterback. Based on the precedent the committee has set, Georgia shouldn't be in.

Now that we know strength of schedule has almost no value, to them record trumps everything else regardless of who you play. The SEC should as quickly as possible negotiate out of ALL those difficult non-conference games. They are simply too big of a liability now to keep them on the schedule.

@@BamaWig hear this every year .. if ES(ec)PN constantly ranks you higher, you play mostly each other, and you play the weakest out of conference games .... sure, you're sooo great. @ I think your missing my point entirely.
