Hey college graduate here, if u believe u are in danger and are being harassed, DO NOT just go to the campus police. Go to the actual police, the news, etc. Campus police especially are lazy asf, and at my own uni there were multiple SA’s and even a kidnapping in the area, and nothing was really done abt it. They prefer to keep things underwraps and will do everything they can to undermine u. Unfortunately the actual police can have this same issue but still get in contact with them. Also alert your professors and watever important people run ur institution, don’t be quiet abt it. And if posssible be with someone trusted at all times and arrange accommodations to leave the area. It’s horrible wat happened to Lauren and i remember learning abt this case awhile back. It’s not unique as women often aren’t believed until it’s too late. My heart goes out to Lauren and her family and friends.

My dad is a campus police officer, and him and his coworkers are extremely hard working and there's rarely ever laziness. Campus police aren't always lazy, it's just most universities suck ass and so do their staff. Just remember there is always at least one good campus police in some campus, even if it isn't in yours

i looked up this case and found out that one of police who handled lauren case got access to her intimate photos (I think she gave it to him as an evidence), and that piece of sh1t police officer SHARED THOSE PHOTOS WITH OTHER OFFICERS WITHOUT HER CONSENT AND NOT WORK RELATED. he even had the audacity to comment that he's lucky he's working on the case because he get to look at her photos anytime he wants

It's an internal device that has "teeth" so if someone tries to r-word them, the "teeth" latch on and can't be removed unless by a doctor. In the end, Lauren’s parents “won” the lawsuit they filed. They settled it and the parents were given 10.5 million by the university while 3.5 million was donated to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation by the university. Although the money can’t bring Lauren back, the parents were glad to get the money to help support their cause. Unfortunately, it came to light that an officer was given explicit photos of Lauren and her murderer during intimacy as evidence against him and the officer shared it without her consent to others. He was fired for this, but no further action could be taken even if the parents wanted to.

The fact that they assigned her case to a detective that was ON VACATION! That she called police and campus police over 20+ times and they didn’t do anything until she was “missing” and someone else called 911 about it😡 she had pics of him probably with her on her phone had a pic of his priors and all that info on him and they still didnt do anything nothing not even check in on her she always had to call them disgusting! Edit: the fact that they told the campus police that he was looking to give lauren a GUN not going to get one himself but he had one and was going to give one to her when he was ON PAROLE!!! should have been a huge red flag that would have sent someone looking into something or passing the case on to someone else who could urgently and actively look into it.

I remember this was quite the story when this first blew up Edit: This happened when I was 15-16 and was one of the reasons I didn't go to the U. I did a summer camp there before these events happened. Post tragedy, they only did a little more to ensure safety. I did cancer research at the hospital and I stayed in their campus apartments. They offered late night rides for students and security does more patrols. Usually the dorm requires your student ID for the outside and the indoor door. When I saw the footage, I thought it was weird that he just walked through the second one with ease. The U is quick to kick students off campus for protesting political issues, but when it comes to stalking and harassment they go phantom mode. (Just a little rant about the University of Utah from someone from the state. I do plan on going there since they have a good biology master's program)

the campus I'm in, which is within a hospital, recently had an incident where one of our student was held at gunpoint and stole their car. The administration held a meeting with the students and we were all suggesting what we can do, mainly get a new parking spot solely for our building, and they all basically dismissed it. One of the admin lowkey looked dismissive of the whole thing since they're at a different campus (we're one college but three different campuses). So yeah...not really surprised that the dean or whtever of that school said "there's nothing we can do". Fortunately now, they increased the number of officers around campus but our area is still dangerous to be in
