Same here! I disagree with her... the. Again I rarely agree with her “college” advice considering her experience with college is so limited, and primarily only in the pandemic. As an engineering / STEM major, I have to use pencil and paper for calculations on the DAILY, and At my school they do not accept digital copies of homework. Also, most college students, at least pre-pandemic use backpacks, it’s better weight distribution than a tote bag.

I would still recommend your own set of plates/bowls/silverware/etc. Even in an apartment setting you aren't guaranteed that your roommates will pull their weight with doing dishes, so it's better in my opinion, to have your own so that you know it will get washed regularly. And if you have the space, keep them in your room. My experience might be different from other people's, but keeping all of those things in your room makes it a little less likely that other people will take and use them.
@kitushruti27923 жыл бұрын
some apartments come with dishwashers and stuff, if you have only one set at your shared apartment, you can wash all of them together, and don't need to 4-5 times (that's more money)
@marisa7683 жыл бұрын
@@kitushruti2792 But even at that you’d have to let them all get dirty before you can fill and run the dishwasher. It’s just my personal preference, but I see more benefit in having your own set. Everyone can do what makes more sense to them.

@@xeriffe8708 for me it’s the framing of the video. She didn’t call it “things I bought and wished I didn’t” she called it “college items you DON’T need”. (Not discrediting you Kamri) For me, I took notes in spiral notebooks because it was a lot easier. I felt like I got a lot more distracted and behind when I typed notes. When I physically wrote down my notes, I learned and recalled better. In fact, I had an extra notebook especially freshman year so when I had an important test I could rewrite my notes. It sounds like pain, but actually helped tremendously for me. I stopped doing that later on because my tests turned into papers and presentations. I say when you get to college try out different methods until one sticks. Everybody learns differently, so there isn't one style fits all. Technology fits Kamri and there is nothing wrong with her suggesting it.

For the fabric softener, either get detergent with it already included, or get a fabric softener dispenser ball off amazon

I'm taking a year off, but I have grown up in a college city, so I have been on different campuses and gone to programs through out my life, I think a lot of this just has to do with a lot of her classes. One thing is even if don't think you will need a backpack get one.

I am a college senior and I would agree with everything besides the pencil and backpack! I literally have like 15 pencils and I use them all the time. I also have a backpack and use it EVERY DAY.

This is cool! I am a junior in high school so it would be cool if you made more videos about college or how to apply to college.

graduating high school in a few days and have applied to college. Applying is not the hard part honestly. What I wish I had done was, was make a new email only for the colleges i was applying too so nothing got in the way and i would not miss anything. The hardest thing is getting scholarships(if you didn't apply yourself in hs, like me) and FASFA. Everything after being accepted in to college will be easy bc most colleges have multiple people and buildings to answer questions.

Nice video. As a college student I used a paper planner and it honestly was great for me. It kept me completely organized, I just kept it on my desk and it was quick for me to look at. I wrote down everything I needed to be done for that week. Definetly recommend if your like me haha love the McKnights!

I HATE online copies of books. But yes early on in the course it says you need the book but half the time you don’t need it.

The notebooks I agree with somewhat. I always had a notebook with me when I went to school but I never used them as much as I thought I would. For the not eating ramen or mac and cheese. It was never about the time it was about the lack of funds in my bank account that dictated that meal. Unfortunately, we can't all be rich college students.

I’m a total pencil note taker. I needed my pencils and pens and my backpack all the time.
