I noticed that this particular fancy decorating style in dorms is only popular in southern schools. Is this a big thing in the south and girls there tend to do this decorating style?i went to a northern school and nobody did this.

It is definitely a big thing in southern schools! I would go so far as to say it’s most prevalent at ole miss, but maybe I’m biased because I’ve been surrounded by it so much! But I know people at some others schools (Alabama comes to mind) also decorate pretty nicely, but I’m not sure that anyone tops what Ole Miss does! It’s somehow become a sort of tradition here :) also I’m from IL and have friends at U of I & mizzou and never see dorm decor like I do here, I wonder if it’ll ever become a trend in more northern schools? I’ll be interested to see!

Thank you!! This was actually the same decor as my room last year and my roommate purchased her half from my past roommate. both my roommate and myself have kinda lost our desire to redecorate a dorm room so we both were cool with just doin the same style as last year!

Roughly room and board for two semesters at any college will be somewhere between 10-15k usd. Sororities tend to be at the lower side of this so probably 10-11k but that includes meals with it. It really depends on the college (university of Alabama and big southern schools like Ole Miss tend to run higher)

Unless things have changed, the price of housing in the sorority houses at Ole Miss is the same as housing in the dormitories. The meals are included in the monthly sorority dues and include 3 meals a day, 5 days a week.
