Please don't say Applied Art is pseudo art. No it's not. All departments Re equally important and essential for art education. Pursue it if you like it but one should not look down upon other departments or art practice. I am from Applied Art. Was teaching in the college as a Lecturer (contractual) from 2009 to 2010. Applied is as beautiful and mysterious as painting or sculpture or art history or print making or visual communication. All are interconnected and need the other to flourish.

This college was at civil lines initially. It was a polytechnic giving diplomas. Then shifted near the place where you have Pragati Maidan currently. Then this land was given by Nehru for the college. Shome Nath Hore was a faculty here. How many of you know that. Please research about the history of this college. And don't just talk about things taken from Google. Paresh Maity, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Gogi Saroj Pal, Manjit Bawa are from this college. First know your alumni.

Hey, as an Alumni of COA while I both agree and disagree with a lot of things you have said, and while a lot of it made me remember the great times I have had in college and the struggles I have faced, I guess things got much worse after 2016. Let me just this though, one point I do disagree with is, there in fact is a lot of opportunity in each of the six department, but unlike the school atmosphere that we come from a college has always been about peer training, self learning and mentorship. Now while I completely support your initiative to bring out all the important issues all I can say is that, allow me to extend a hand from my side. If ever you or anybody else does have any query or is bit unsure of how to go forward with your practice or is trying to figure out what career path they should choose feel free to connect. I have been in your place too and I understand how overwhelming the change can be. Also just on a side note, I am from Art History, and believe me if you have the skill and mindset for it nothing can stop you from growing! All the best to all of you giving your best! And yes I am a Bengali myself....and at one point of time this college had more Bengali teachers than people from other dialects. The first principal of this college was a Bengali. He actually established the whole thing. Find out about him. He was a great sculptor. Previously he was in Lahore. Running an art college there. He came to India after partition.....find out about him. Do some homework. Always do your research with honesty.
