Collegeboard discontinued these AP Classes

Today we take a look into the AP Archive and discuss discontinued AP Classes. These classes were available to take and had AP exams available for a little while until Collegeboard decided to discontinue them for various reasons (which is discussed in the video). Who knows, maybe AP Precalc will become a discontinued AP class soon and we'll be free from useless AP classes!

Also AP World History being pretty much changed to just be from the year 1200 onwards instead of 3000 BC, and a newer Ancient AP World being developed.

I find it genuinely hilarious that college board tried to create a physics course with no math. Like… what did you do? Talk about energy transfers in vague terms? Acknowledge that forces exist? How did they think colleges would give credit for that?

Even then, the idea of algebra based physics is a waste of time Conceptual physics is high school level physics - no college is going to accept the HS level course but there’s still math but it only makes sense to talk about it in algebra there though there are a few speed bumps such as why acceleration formula is t^2 which calculus answers

AP Medical Procedures and Health Science is one that should exist (AP Med for short). This class would go over introductory medical procedures and health sciences, it would def be up there with chem and the physics c's in terms of difficulty. Exam would consist of a MCQ, FRQ, and a PKA (Procedural Knowledge and Application). The PKA would pick 4 random procedures the students learned throughout the year and require the students to be filmed performing the procedures on a test doll.

I feel like anything medical is awful, theres so much premed interest but when it comes to actual hospital their understaffed and overworked. So many people dont actually understand how difficult it is being in a hospital

I would like to see AP Ochem or some form of Ochem so students don’t go in blind. Maybe call it AP Chem 2 or smth

Fully agreed! The more courses they have, the better. Also orgo really doesn’t need THAT much gen chem 2 knowledge beyond resonance and a few other topics so to be honest this would be a great option

AP Linear Algebra, AP Calc 3, AP Physics C: Nuclear and Quantum Physics will be decent choices (even tho last one would be not possible to take)

Like all 3. Linear Algebra and Calc 3 mentioned in the video. Physics C: Nuclear and Quantum is genius. The course could touch on all aspect not covered in Physics C but are in AP Physics 2, but apply Calc to it, such as Fluids, Thermo, Optics, and Nuclear/Quantum. Hopefully it happens 🤞

How would you teach quantum without linear algebra? In my school it was a prerequisite to take a math course that covered calculus, diff eqs, linear algebra, and fourier transforms before taking quantum

Linear algebra is proof based, college board would never design a proof based exam AP quantum needs linear algebra lol As for multi variable calculus, I mean very few students reach those levels

AP Biomedical Sciences. AP Calculus DE (Calc 3 & intro to diff equations), a great example of Biomed at the high school level is pltw’s biomed course, and with Calc BC being the highest level math that’s offered but many people I know often go beyond and it’ll be great as education rate grows overtime, it should be considered especially for those going into stem.

An AP geoscience course would be really nice even though it's probably never gonna happen. As someone who wants to go into geochemistry/geophysics/meteorology it would be nice to have a challenging earth science course that's not APES. Rn the best alternative is taking physical science and math courses for Aps.

I want Ap robotics. After completing intro and robotics 2, I wish I could continue to learn and build new things. I could see it being project and/or test based to earn college credit. And since I want to go into engineering, would be perfect for me.
