Personally, I think community college is a great choice to blend with the "College Hacked" system. Using some combination of HS AP classes, SOPHIA, and junior college, you could knock out a lot of units for REALLY CHEAP (especially because in my county, all residents get junior college tuition-free for two years.) Between HS AP classes and junior college, I was able to transfer around 85 units to Liberty University (online). I started LUO this past July and am set to graduate debt-free with my bachelors in May! (FYI, I've said this before, but I only decided to finish my bachelor's after finding this channel and watching the "LUO hacked" video, so thank you again!) Also, it is worth noting that I didn't find out about this channel until I had completed junior college so I may have done stuff differently if I knew about SOPHIA/etc. earlier.

I was looking for the best Online College to attend since I was 51 when I started. I found your site and find your content very informative. I graduate in Summer 2023 from Excelsior University with a Degree in National Security. I like how you rate schools, but the rating scale that I used is slightly different. I look at Tuition Cost, ROI (Average Starting Salary for Graduates), and Percentage of Graduates making more money than High School Graduates. Graduation rates do not matter too much to me as long as it is not too low, then that would be evidence of a problem with the school.... Would love to see you do the best Colleges for the Military and Veterans... Sorry being a Military Vet, this is a selfish request.... Jim

I found your channel after being frustrated with only being able to take 1-2 classes every semester at community college. Your information about Sophia was awesome. I completed 5 classes on Sophia in 2 weeks and have recently enrolled at UMPI. I have tuition assistance from my employer and have a yearly limit. I got a bachelor's in computer science. Been working in IT doing all kinds of stuff like web dev, backend programming, pc repair, electronics repair, systems admin, camera installs, rmm, and more for 7 years. For the life of me, I can't get myself into a software developer job. I must have applied to well over a thousand jobs and did plenty of interviews. Constantly revising my resume to improve it. Occupational therapy assistant is a 2 year technical degree. That is an associate's. You can get a job right away. Make sure the program is accredited by the AOTA, where they list OT schools and OTA schools. You can further your education by getting a bachelor's, masters or even doctorate in the field.
@katydid5088 Жыл бұрын
I would also add, it's a good way to see if you like the field. I know people that fell in love with the area and despite some of the shenanigans at the workplace, love the career. Others that would have HATED to stay in the career (or had a health change that meant their job was no longer sustainable) took the degree credits they had and some of the competency based classes to have an in for everything for accounting to IT tech and security in a hospital or outpatient setting. As an added bonus, the money is fairly good for a 2yr degree. Definitely not great but not awful.

Most community colleges in PA/NJ have transfer programs if you want to earn the associates and then go onto to social work. But you have to live in the county to get the tuition. For instance you can go to Lehigh Carbon Community College /and transfer all credits to Kutztown University or Cedar Crest College. Make sure the BSW is accredited by the council of social work. If it is, you can then get your masters in one year, instead of two. Also, if you are a high school senior, a lot of community colleges are offering you to study for FREE at the college while finishing high school, which most students knock off a year of school.

I started my college hacking journey about 2 weeks ago, and since then, I have earned 18 credits with Sophia. My goal is to earn a BSBA Computer Information Systems from TESU in 1 year. My question is: how can I do the minimum requirement of 16 credits with TESU in one semester in order to save time and money?
@JimSpence Жыл бұрын
Cumulative 16hrs obtained from TESU avoids their residency fee waiver. 9hrs is needed per term min. To get flat rate tuition. You need 100 credits before you can register for capstone. The way I understand it, you can take up to 16 hrs at TESU in one term too, before needing special permission to take more. Basically, take 9-16 hrs to check off first two variables I mentioned.

Can getting an associates make it easier to transfer credit if there is perhaps a degree you want that's harder to hack or needed as an in person? I have heard sometimes it can be easier to transfer an associates rather then a bunch of individual courses to some individual universities but am unsure the merit of that.
@roses72141 Жыл бұрын
Many community colleges have direct transfer programs with the state colleges or private colleges in the area. You could probably still do clep for a few courses. Ask the community college about how many clep credits they take ahead of time. Many state colleges are offering online degrees if you don't want to go in person. Where are you from?

I have a soon to be 16 year old that is looking into the nursing field. We live in a state (Oregon) that has early college programs which could allow her to graduate w an associates at 18? How do you personally feel about that, would you consider doing the program plus getting some of the CLEP credits? Or would it be easier for her to focus her year on CLEP credits apart from the early college program… I hope that makes sense 🤣 *Thank you for your time!* I really appreciate it.

Great questions! 1. Honestly, I think CLEP and early associates are both great. I'd probably prefer the associates because they replace high school courses and are great experience, but CLEP is fine too. 2. Sophia is like CLEP plus all the study materials for a monthly price. A little cheaper if you play your cards right and a little bit easier than CLEP. Hope that helps!

Hi, I’m 35, had high gpa (3.7-3.9, if I recall correctly) in high school, but left college twice after hiccups along the way… I’ve been told that I have wasted my potential for my entire life, but I woke up suddenly after a divorce & a decade long struggle with my mental health, and decided to take the initiative to finally finish my education. I’ve wanted to become an Anesthesiologist since my Sophomore year of high school. That being the case, is an AS in Psychology, Heath Care Administration, or Biological Studies be worth pursuing in order to get into a more appealing Bachelor’s program that Med Schools would view more favorably? (I’ve seen that ASU, UCLA, or CSULB have online/hybrid programs that don’t distinguish between on campus/online on their degrees). I would just prefer not to have any further stigmas placed on my application than being 20 years older than the other applicants by the time that I apply. If I can finish a Bachelor’s degree in a year or less from the videos I’ve watched so far (I would think with an Associates to build off), then I would be interested in pursuing several degrees to better prepare myself for Med School, Residency & Specialization afterwards… Would that be more appealing to MD/DO programs when I apply to them? (I’m already studying for MCATs/USMLE Exams). I have started studying for CLEP Exams, Sophia is looking pretty appealing to me as well, and even started listening to College/MedSchool Coursework available through my Audible subscription… I did take several AP courses in high school, but either didn’t take the exams or I have lost track of where to find my scores. I do suffer from chronic ADHD, but after 20 years of looking have recently found the combination of medication that works for me… in a hyperfixated/hypomanic state I have been able to get unthinkable amounts of work done in the past. I realize that this goal is challenging, but no one in my life seems to think I’m not capable of accomplishing it (they’ve mostly expressed their frustrations that I haven’t done it yet). I am highly motivated & extremely driven. I want to make this happen as quickly as possible so that I am not wasting any more of my life than I already have.
@CollegeHacked Жыл бұрын
There are multiple ways to end up in Anesthesia (you can do the traditional medical school route, but there is also Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant, or the Physician Associate (PA) route with a specialty in Anesthesia). I would challenge you to consider why you’re jumping straight to medical school and if that’s truly the right fit (is it motivated by pride, or the actual logistics of the job you can’t get from other entry points to that field?). If you haven’t already shadowed an Anesthesiologist at your local hospital, that is a nonnegotiable (both for putting it on your applications later and getting needed recommendation letters), so start there to make sure you even like the day to day that job requires. :) But if you’re looking for the fastest cheapest undergrad so you can check the box on a BS, try the UMPI YourPace programs, or WGU has some health based degrees!

We discussed delaying college considering he is so young, but he already has plans for what he wants to do for a gap year after graduating.
