Yes, I definitely agree, no doubt. With the comments from the majority of the people not thinking things through & don't know what they're talking about when they say something sucks or it's not right what the writer's did with a certain character when it's only been 5 episodes. We still have episodes 6-15 to go. There's plenty of time to sort things out with certain characters. There is a lot of disrespect & hateful comments about a show that they supposedly like & are a fan of. That's just downright wrong & rude of those people.

hot take I wasn't shocked at all that tory ended up joining cobra kai especially when it was foreshadowed with kreese telling her they will always put sam first and her second which lead to Daniel and Johnny mainly Daniel telling tory to sit out while grieving for her mother who died like yesterday this episode made you see both sides here with Daniel trying to stop tory from hurting her daughter even more which is understandable but from tory's perspective it isn't that way she wants to fight in the Sekai zaikai for her mom and prove she can be the best at the end of the day its more than just oh they made tory the villain again or she's back to cobra kai now it's about her finally letting go of all the anger and pain she's been going through for the past few seasons they should glimpse of that in part 1 now do I think the exacution was a lit cheap yeah at first I did but now I kind of see the bigger picture where she finally finds herself again through all the hurt like she did in season 5 but way better also I don't think she joined cobra kai again because she likes it there she joined so she can fight in the tournament I could even see a scene where she says she doesn't care about no mercy or strike first bs she is just there to win the Sekai taikai I would really love to see a scene where Johnny tells tory that going back to cobra kai only causes more pain being the fact that he knows what his going through they even teased this in part 1 though I will say they really butchered hawk and Devon's arc a lot this season which sucks cause I was rooting for them

You have some good points but I like to add some things: 1) You act like Daniel and the Miyagi-Do's threw Tory out of the dojo. They didnt! She ran away, it was her own choice. Nobody said "get out of here". To the contrary, Daniel, Amanda and all the others were concerned about her. If they had thrown her out of the dojo, then I would understand her move to go, yes. 2) You say Daniel stopped the fight that Tory didnt hurt Sam. Really? Sam was leading 2-1 at that point, so if Tory had landed that shot it would have been 2-2, so nobody stole anything from Tory (like a win). 3) The final point: Johnny could tell her CK makes anyhting worser, yes. But he could also say how Tory broke his son s heart again. It really seems to me like many people dont understand Robby and Tory werent just platonic friends in S4-5 and now in the first episodes. They love(d) each other and even Robby told her he wants to win that tournament with her. But she broke his heart again, again chosing Kreese over Robby, the same mistake she did in Season 5. In a realistic world to be honest, it would be almost impossible to bring them back together. Robby gave her one chance in S5, he said we cant stay together when you are in CK, she stayed for Kreese, and in the end she even told Robby "I have to apologize too" (for making the mistake to stay at CK for Kreese). With all respect for the shock about her mothers death, we cant forget the shock she gave Robby now again. Tanner stated in an interview Robby is in a bad place now (end of S6E5), and I think that was a little spoiler he wont do so well in that tournament, and is basically broken again. Devon also lost her mother she could have helped Tory too. Robby would have helped her, but also Daniel, Amanda, Johnny, they all wanted to help her. But she chosed Kreese again that is simply hard to understand. Yes Kreese helped her, but didnt help Amand her too? Amanda never said anything like "leave Miyagi-Do" or something. Long story short: She destroyed Robby now. I dont see how he could overcome this because it is so brutal. She didnt even give him the chance to help her about the lost of her mom. She just walked away. Robby wrote her messages during and after her mom passed, and she didnt reply, nothing. Yes Johnny was right it would have been better to continiue. But Daniel was also not wrong. He like Amanda thought Tory needs a break. They didnt want to end the fight, the only wanted to give her time. Some people act like Daniel stopped the fight and they declared Sam the winner. They didnt do that!

@@Johnadams20760 These are some of the weird things. I know it isnt the real world, but it tries to be as real as possible. And of course a 17 yrs old girl would also inform her boyfriend if her mom passed away. It was even more strange he tried to call her at least once and did send her multiple messages, and she didnt react. Of course she was totally shattered I get that, but at least a partner (Robby) or good friend (Devon) should be the one you inform in such a sad situation. But yeah, long story short, I have a gutfeeling this whole thing is to set up something very dramatical for the future. I chatted with a good friend about it a couple days ago, and I told him Peyton List was seen in that black trouser with red stripes, and we speculated which scenario could make sense for bringing her back to CK, and I see only 1-2 reasons.

I'm sure that Mr. Miyagi was part of the Sekai Taikai, but I don't think he participated in the tournament. If you remember the very first Karate Kid movie, minutes before Daniel faced his first opponent in the All-Valley Tournament, he asked Mr. Miyagi what the rules were, and he responded, "don't know. First time you, first time me", and then Daniel felt defeated about how far he would excel in the tournament, and shot back with, "I thought you knew about this! You told me you fought a lot!", and Miyagi said, "for life, not for points." Therefore, I do not believe he ever participated in the tournament. Then again... it could be that he knew someone who was in the tournament and he was given the bandana as a gift, an heirloom, or a memento.

With the Kenny situation, did you even think about the possibility that him & Shawn could be the two that joins the missing spots in the Cobra Kai team ? If you noticed, there were only three Korean students & Tory. That's only 4 people. There is room for two more since it requires 6 students. This is just a possibility, not facts, as of yet. We will know more in November. And no, Tory's character isn't ruined, & neither is Kenny's character. She wanted to be in the tournament, & the only possible way was to re-join Cobra Kai. In the end, we don't know how things will turn out. They may even make up after it's over. We don't know what will happen. It's just compelling story telling. Not ruining any characters. Don't even think about it that way.

@@JayLee-hu5mh, Yes, that is definitely a possibility, but think about it in other ways, as well. Kenny has beef with Anthony, because he thinks Anthony did that to him. Anthony didn't go to the tournament. Anthony stayed back in the valley. Shawn told his brother Kenny that if he keeps going down that path, he could end up like him, in juvi. . In my opinion, Shawn & possibly their dad when he gets home could help him get through his anger issues, but Kenny & Anthony could still go at it for a bit until they can work out their differences. Since most of his Cobra Kai mates are gone, Kenny could get some more buddies to help bully Anthony or just do it on his own. We don't know what will happen yet. As for Devon to join Cobra Kai, that's a possibility, too. But it could also be a possibility that she stays with Miagi-Do & wins the female division. I'd still like Tory to win, but we'll just have to wait & see. We don't even know yet if Tory will stay in Cobra Kai. She could get into an argument or fight with Kim & decide to drop out all together before it's over. Sam could get hurt somehow & that could set up Devon to win. Again, there are many different possibilities. It all depends on how the writer's wrote it. People just needs to give it time & not be so quick to think they know what will happen or judge too fast.

I hope the plot somehow has Miguel win the whole tournament. I don't see how I could be satisfied with any other ending. He is the new karate kid, and hasn't had a big win since the end of season 3. He bested Robby in season 5, but that was erased this season with their latest fight. Miguel has to win this tournament.

However it turns out, just be satisfied that it gave us 6 seasons of compelling storylines & entertaining us this long with possibly more in the Miagi-verse to come. My guess is that Cobra Kai will win the tournament, but if Miagi-Do wins, I won't be less satisfied over it. That wouldn't be a smart way of thinking. No, Miguel DOESN'T HAVE TO WIN. There are other's that could win. Just because it started with him, doesn't mean it will end with him. Tory may or may not beat Sam. Kwon may or may not be Miguel or Robby. None of us knows for sure. Just cause it started with Miguel, it doesn't have to necessarily end with Miguel. There are a possibility of winners, not just the one that you want. Think it through & we will all find out in November.

We are merely talking about our subjective opinions on who we think should win the tournament -- in this case, why Miguel should win. The writers do a pretty good job at throwing curve balls, but I think the essence of the Karate Kid is the underdog story that gives us a clear main character to follow through highs and lows. And here, Miguel is that character. I just think that the way the writers are hyping up the end of the tournament, they need a big pay off on the whole story which sees it come full circle. Miguel fell from grace and will now have a chance at the ultimate redemption. Of course, I'll have to accept whatever ending we are given, but I think that Miguel winning would provide the best overall story while holding true to the principles of the original Daniel-Miyagi Trilogy.

Those people just don't seem to understand compelling storylines in a TV series. However, you're only thinking about it through the Karate Kid movies. Not Cobra Kai. It may have started out with Miguel, but that's just a way to get the story rolling. This is 30 something years later, & the big 3 knows a bit more than what the original writer of the movies. They've studied the movies & pay their respects, but in the end, they have their reasons for writing things the way they do. If there is so much hate & disdain from people, those folks should just stop watching & commenting negatively about it, & let us real fans enjoy the show for what it is, a compelling TV series with twists & turns that we never saw coming. Why would the writer's write that Miguel wins in the end ? It's predicable. Daniel ( the underdog ) won everytime, but it only lasted 3 movies, then they had to change it up with Julie Pierce. She won in the end, & that was predictable. Now, they would seem to want to throw a curve ball in the mix. There are a ton of possibilities who might win, not just Miguel or Robby. Kwon, Shawn, Kenny, Hawk, Dimitri, & whoever else might be there. With the girls, it could be Sam, Tory, Devon, or anyone else we don't know about yet. People needs to keep an open mind & not think there's only one solution to the situation involved. If you write predictable TV, it will eventually get boring. 🤔.

The writers despise Tory and are clutching at straws, They will never let Tory beat Sam so what's the point? Tory is just gonna lose at the tournament again like she always does. Her S4 win was tainted and her mother passes away, she has been so badly treated it's insane, they literally had Tory's mother die as an excuse so Sam could be team captain, how sad is that? Sam is the most protected character by far.

They put Kenny in a position to turn back to the heel side to possibly join Cobra Kai with Shawn. There was two positions missing in the Cobra Kai lineup at the tournament. My guess is the Payne brothers. We don't know how it will turn out, but it's a good storyline to keep people guessing.😮. P.S. I'm not at all stating it will be the Payne brothers. We don't know anything yet. It was simply a guess, good or bad. Kenny will probably just stick around the valley to have Shawn & possibly their dad helping him & working on his mental additude with his way of thinking before it's too late. Possibly keeping the beef with Anthony going for a bit.

I thought the first arc was pretty good for the most part. I groaned a little at the tired regression of some of the characters, especially between Daniel and Johnny. I get the need to bring tension between them for the final season but they've had so many forced falling outs throughout the series that it just gets old. Tory's story arc is rather predictable that she would return to Cobra Kai, even if that seems a little forced. Still there were some fun moments like the frat boy beatdown. And Chozen is great in every scene. Was sad he returned to Japan for several episodes but of course he'll be back. Looking forward to the next part!

Daniel and Johnny aren’t complete characters that’s why they are back at it. Daniel’s glazing Miyagi and Johnny’s over bearing aggression still exist. They need to have a personal reconciliation. Rather than Season 4 where it was about thinking their styles can co-exist and taking down a common enemy. This situation is different.

The only reason they got along in Season 5 was because they all wanted to avenge Daniel and they all hated Silver. With Part 1, they don’t know what Kreese is doing until the ending. Disappointed in many ways so far, but there are a few things I've liked. Kwon being one of them. Nothing like an antagonist who just wants the smoke, super cocky and disrespectful, but can back all that up because he's a beast. But I really didn't like how they basically undid all the progress of a few characters. Kenny and Tory have come so far, and now the writers found ways to push them back to the "dark side". I can't believe they did Kenny like that, and for who? Devon, a frankly boring character. I think it will be interesting when she eventually tells the truth about what she did to Kenny. But still a little disappointing.

@@Tehz1359 , Before getting too disappointed, think about it for a moment. Finding a way to push Kenny & Tory back to the dark side. There are only 6 total spots in Miagi-Do in the tournament. Tory being so into the mindset that she's in makes sense to go back to Cobra Kai. She's unstable & not understanding Miagi-Do's teachings as of yet. It still may come in time, though. Don't count her out yet. She still may come back to the light. The show isn't completely over yet. As for Kenny, don't you think it's possible for him & Shawn to be able to fight together in a tournament, even if it's on the bad side ? They probably did it that way for him to think Anthony screwed with him, & to get revenge ? There are two Cobra Kai students not accounted for yet. Bring in Kenny & Shawn. That way, they're not left out. As for Devon to do what she did. If you think she is a boring character, that's your opinion, not facts. She could have been upset that Mike didn't take her seriously enough & that she probably knew she didn't stand a chance against Kenny. It's a good way of character writing to keep everyone involved, whether we like how the writer's did it or not. Plus, they added Kwon. He's definitely a good new character who might just win the tournament. Or, someone could put him in his place to show him what Miagi originally said, something about there's always someone who knows more than you. However it plays out, just enjoy it & know there's always a reason for things. The tournament is also a good way of getting out the meaningless characters such as Big & Little Red, Rickenburger, & other's not named.

tory's character arc to cobra kai makes sense i'm not sure why u don't like it. her and kreese have a history since season 3 and she's at the darkest part of her life, it makes sense. Kreese also mentioned to tory that they'll put sam above her and u kind saw her realize that (from her standpoint) when she wanted to continue the fight but Amanda and Daniel stopped it.

Look for clues ( Amanda hinting to him that he overstayed his welcome, him looking for airline prices on the computer, feelings that he wants Kumiko, & can't if he stayed in the valley, etc. ) clearly shows every reason for him not to be in the last episode of season 5, then come back to this discussion. If you don't know by episodes 6-15, then you will definitely have a problem understanding anything. There's definitely NO REASON to ask that particular question if you can follow the show.

Tory is punished every season it's so unfair she loses to Sam in every fight from season 2-6, they couldn't even let Tory win fair and square for once in S4, Kim tortured her mentally, beat her up and made her bust her hand in S5, all the stuff with her aunt and they couldn't even let Tory win the fight in S6 the bias is crazy I am fuming, Tory loses her mother, and they make her rejoin CK after what Kim Da Eun did to her? she didn't even train with them in Korea what a joke, the writers really don't like her. Tory never won 1 big fight on the show, she never beat anybody which is so sad she was a trained kickboxer, showed some grappling in S2 and then learned Cobra Kai. Tory and Sam was never a rivalry, my idea of a rivalry is something competive, back and forth, you win one, I win one, Sam won every time which is nonsense because she only learned basics as a kid and quit for 9 years, Tory is much bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic and more aggressive etc, there is 0 realism cause Tory would demolish her in a real fight. Think about it who would you rather fight Tory or Sam? definitely Sam, you wouldn't wanna fight Tory she's very strong physically as well, she would beat you up, Sam is small, weak and barely has any sort of offense.
