love M. Night Shyamalan....his The Sixth Sense is the best. He was the original writer/director to tell this type of story.

Boring, and undoubtedly stolen idea, just like signs, the village, and 6th sense. He's a talentless thief.

He really made som masterpieces. Knock is good, but sixth sense, unbreakable and signs are masterpieces and nothing he made since can come close

@@benjaminbjrklund743 The Village was a complete theft of the novel Running out of Time. I read that as a child and remember thinking that when I watched the movie. I expected a "based on the novel..." but no mention at all. Others have accused him of stealing a children's story plot for the 6th sense, which i did enjoy, I'll admit. And a female writer says he used her story for a series (I have not seen) on Apple+ called Servant. He was sued for stealing the plot of signs also.

@@valcarter5164 well people sue filmmakers daily for their ideas. will look into what youre writing though. its interesting. i think the story is that he stole the sixth sense idea from "are u afraid of the dark" tv series... depends on how closely it is. i. but if stealing ideas is a hollywood crime tarantino would be in prison. depends on how much one make it its own.

Really never taken time to watch m night interviews or anything, but I’m glad I watched this he seems like such a passionate filmmaker. I can definitely relate to his energy of wishing he could just figure out the movie ideas/structures faster 😂 Btw I watched Knock at The Cabin and I’m not going to be surprised if it ends up in my top 10 on the year. Really really good movie.

I’m sorry, he’s literally one of a kind! I’m obsessed with his mind. 😂 if he does a movie, be prepared to be blown away for sure!!! Literally one of a kind. Although I didn’t watch servant because of my beliefs, I was so bummed it was by him and I couldn’t watch.

Plagiarism incarnate. Steals stories from lesser known sci-fi of the 50's and passes it off as new. He's a fraud.

I don’t think Signs is his scariest movie. Maybe you’re right though considering his portfolio. I will say while watching knock at the cabin i thought of signs frequently due to all the dialogue about whether whatever was happening was coincidence or not.

While I do love the movie signs. I don’t think that it’s his scariest film. In fact, there were some moments I laughed at some of the poor acting. I personally really like The Village. However, it’s tough to decide which is the best.

@chasehedges6775 i waited 20 years to be dissapointed by glass. Unbreakable was a masterpiece and so was split, but they ruined it with the ending. Those three couldve worked so differently together. The lets make a super hero movie without out making a super hero movie only worked once.

I spoke to someone who said they despised the film for giving credibility to religious fanatics who do dark deeds in the service of a god (so they say). Interesting take. It is true, of course, that the ultimate message of the film is that superior beings can demand sacrifices for no logical reason, rain death upon everyone if they don't get what they want, and we should play ball. In fact, from a certain POV, a homosexual sacrificed his homosexuality for the sake of the world. In the future, we don't see a partner for him but rather see him taking care of the woman in his life. Quite the win for Big Religion, I suppose. :)

I can think of a few reasons why for non-IP scenarios and not well know franchises. 1. Competition - This industry is a business first, art second. You don’t want competition to this concept especially if it’s fresh and good. 2. Setting up for greatness/failure - People always have high expectations. If it turned out differently in a bad way, it could be a disaster. You could also build hype around it and let them speculate. 3. Incognito mode - No one will know. If the movie fell apart, then you don’t have to explain why. You won’t disappoint everyone as well. Just jump on to the next one.
