Timmy and Lassie help Forest Service biologist Mark Adams, who is on "Fawn Patrol" tagging deer fawns for a conservation project. This episode seems to portend future seasons of Lassie "working with" the Forest Service, especially when one of the episode's characters mentions that Lassie would make a good forest ranger.
TRIVIA (mostly from Wikipedia): Actor Russell David Johnson (November 10, 1924 - January 16, 2014) who plays ranger Adams in this Lassie episode was an American television and film actor, best known for his role as "The Professor" on the hit 1964-67 television sitcom "Gilligan's Island". Johnson had served as a bomber in WWII, flying 44 missions, and earning the Purple Heart for his injuries. He used the GI Bill benefits to study acting, and his Hollywood career began in 1952 where he was cast in mostly serial westerns, sci-fi, and later mystery dramas. It's interesting that he finally achieved TV fame two years after being cast in this Lassie episode! We like to think that Lassie gave him the visual boost into the spotlight that he needed.
