Jeff thinks his new friend, a rich banker's son, has it all - private school, a chauffeur, maid, cook - until the friend gets sick while taking Lassie for a walk, and ends up having to recover at Jeff's house. A classic Lesley Selander directed episode where Lassie is asked "What's wrong Lassie? Where is ____?" then Lassie barks and the actor (whoever is talking to Lassie) says " ___ is in trouble! Go find them Lassie!" at which point the collie runs to the rescue with everyone in hot pursuit.
TRIVIA: Notice the make of the chauffeur driven car! Based upon the round, unhooded, chrome trimmed headlights, the logo with the tight "V" under the insignia and the stylized bird hood ornament, the gently curved windshield shape and center hood molding, the angled vent windows, and the side molding, this appears to be a 1950 Cadillac series 75 Fleetwood Limousine. Notice how Ellen, Gramps, and Jeff all looked at the car, and widened their eyes. And no wonder! The Series 75 was Cadillac's most luxurious and largest car offered, and sold for over $5,000 new in 1950 - more than many folk, especially farmers, at that time made in a year. In 2009 an identical 1950 Fleetwood Series 75 sold at auction for $66,000.
NOTE: This recording has been edited to remove commercials and to add titles and descriptions. The re-broadcast has not been stretched or modified in any way from the original film which was distributed for TV viewing in classic black and white early 1950's "square TV screen" format. "Lassie" is copyrighted and owned by Classic Media. The first 4 seasons of "Lassie" were later syndicated as "Jeff's Collie". Recorded from COZI TV in 2013 via free over-the-air antenna TV.
