An update to show off my Collins winged emblem that it took me 41 years to find and dress up my 1947 30K-1 transmitter. Also showing off my Collins S-Line equipment and the home made antenna tuner.

For those of us who aren't radio operators a walkthrough of your station telling us what each piece is for would be interesting. Great equipment.

That old Collins gear is still worth it. I wanted the S-Line Trans and receiver back in the day, but couldn't afford it. I would still buy it today if I had the chance.

Thank you. I am glad you enjoy seeing it. It is now 71 years old and many of the original components of the power supply are still in it and working great.

Went from a valiant 1 restoration and straight to a Bauer 707 conversion. I got really impatient with all the supposed intermediate projects!

That is quite a leap in transmitters. I would love to have a Bauer or Gates AM transmitter. I have recently built a 833A amplifier that works but I am having a hard time neutralizing it to my satisfaction. The 833A is a medium mu triode so I apply proper bias and drive the grid (loaded with a 50 ohm resistor). You might be interested in my video and if you should watch it please let me know what you think. There aren't many of us left that are interested in projects of this magnitude anymore. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5PEioihj9GAqdk

Hi David, hope you are doing well, I really like that 1947 Collins and what you have done to get it functioning from it's former dilapidated state......it came out great. They couldn't have made that many, amazing you found the emblem all these years later! Quite a nice collection of vintage Collins items you have. I never realized how popular Ham radio is... I thought it was an obsolete form of communication outdated by more modern devices such as cellular phones. But it may be more popular then ever! You mention the Base often in your video's and I gather that your vast knowledge and understanding of all the test equipment you own and use came out of, or was applied to your former job there. Maybe you can make a video giving a brief description of what you actually did there? I think many of your subscribers would enjoy that. Thanks for the tour, Tom

+Bucyrus Erie12 I agree, that could be an interesting video if I could tell it correctly. I will have to think about it. Some things I remember are signs that said, "What you see here and what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here". Another is, "Don't Tell A Phone our secrets". Another, "DEADLY FORCE IS AUTHORIZED IN THIS AREA". Everybody did their job and were polite and professional and then we went home and didn't talk about it. It is just a culture you become a part of.

+Mike Samra I wish it was pristine and original. I would polish it everyday. Unfortunately, when I got it a number of heinous things had already been done to it so I finally figured the best thing I could do with it was use it as a RF amplifier for SSB. I should post some of the pictures of it with the 4-400A's in it. I think they were actually more beautiful than the 4CX1000A.
