After working for one of Collins' other plants for several years, I can say the company itself is great to work for. after seeing this video, I understand why so many of their plants have closed doors though. This may be one of the slowest facilities I've seen in 15 years and I've seen a lot. Hopefully they manage to keep driving on. As I said, it's a great company to work for. Just need to pick up the pace a little 😉

I work at Collins mill in Northern California. In Chester. We run 100x faster than this. Almost the same setup but wayyy faster. We push out 500,000 feet of lumber on a ok day. And 600,000 feet on a really good day.

The scale of this mill, melts my little carpenters brain. Also, evert time at see a human being working, I think their job is only there for a limited time, until some machinist comes up with a stapler machine or sorting bot or something. Sorry guys. That’s a lot of automation. No wonder my lumber costs so much.
@flyingfarm12 жыл бұрын
It's just the opposite. Automation is less costly than human workers. It is sad, but jobs are being lost to machines.
@loganweekly-wilson95112 жыл бұрын
Automation of these processes actual helps with the costs. There’s plenty of factors that contribute to todays lumber prices, and machines are not one of them lol
