Грандиозная музыка! Почему- то не покидает ощущение, что я где- то её слышала, но не могу вспомнить. Слышатся созвучия, похожие на музыку в "Звёздных войнах". Возможно на композитора, писавшего музыку к этому фильму, как раз этот альбом оказал влияние.

Да, вы абсолютно правы - на Джона Уильямса (композитора 3 частей «Гарри Поттера» и всех частей «Звёздных войн») действительно оказали влияние «Планеты» Холста!! И именно поэтому возникает это странное чувство ностальгии, хотя «Планеты» были написаны аж в 1914-16 годах, то есть чуть больше 100 лет назад и уже определили многое)))

My favourite recording of this piece. Naxos own the rights to Collins label but they will not issue it on Naxox like other Collins recordings.

I say the mars movement needs the second crescendo to go slowly but the rest is fast.

I find it interesting he left out Pluto. 🤔 Precognition? Since he first conceived of the planets in 1913 and finished the final planet, Mercury, in 1916, and Pluto was discovered in 1930, I guess not. He had written the music before the discovery of Pluto. Although he died about 3 years after the discovery of Pluto and therefore must have been aware of it, he must not have felt compelled to add it to the roster of planets in his music. Of course his health may have been such he could not compose any further music.

It's a real treat! Feels like it has the weight of war about it. Such a very heavy version of a relatively speedy piece.

@@fyvewytches The Steinberg recording you mentioned with the BSO is very fast with the conductor insisting a distinct accent on the downbeat of every bar.

Tempo is very slow !
