Shinymark top eight his first US major, and he also farms his region. I won’t blame anyone who believes esam isn’t the best pika anymore. Honestly esam’s results. Haven’t been the best lately. Everyone has gotten really good at playing against him. He’s gonna have to adapt. Sure his peaks are higher but Shiny is more consistent.

Third US major, he was at mainstage 2021 and smash con 2022. He also got 5th at Smash Factor 9 but that major was at Mexico.

while it's indisputable that this is a bad mu for pika, with the way esam played vs maister you would think it's impossible. seeing shiny's performance just makes u calm abt the whole thing like even tho he lost its like "yeah it's rough but it's clearly doable" he even said he had controller issues during this set so I look forward to a better performance in the future. Ik he's won this vs maister online before

I do feel like it's a bit of a matchup diff considering how hard Maister always handles ESAM (5-0 in sets). Plus both ESAM and ShinyMark have historically put G&W as one of, if not the ONLY one of, Pikachu's outright losing matchups.

Yeah G&W basically invalidates tjolt and thunder. Countering tjolt leaves Pikachu with fewer approach options so they will have to jump in. Jumping in leaves them susceptible to up smash. Rough matchup.

As a long time pikachu main, I look up to Shiny. I have to fight Ness and GnW every week at my locals and it's so disheartening. it's crazy how far brain dead can take you in this complicated game but Shiny teaches patience.
