La Puerta Falsa restaurant is from 1816 and apparently has a pretty interesting history. The story goes that back in the day, whenever Colombia had a big celebration to put on the preists would ask some of the prominent local women to help. One very prominent woman wasn’t asked as she expected to be so she instead planned a meal for a lot of the people helping with the festival, she invited everyone except the priest. When he heard he got so angry and told her that if she was to cook for the the people involved withthe fesitval it should be for everyone involved. She declined and instead decided to cook her delicious food as close to the priest as possible and asked her husband to purchase a property as close to the cathedral as he could. She opened her restaurant on July 16th 1816, the very same day as the festival. The smell of the food enticed everyone around and angered the priest daily form then on! It’s now been owned through 7 generations of the same family!

Hi Jordan and Emily, very interesting video of your last day in Colombia. Even though you didn't experience everything you wanted, it looks like you still had and interesting day experiencing many new foods and drinks. The Chicken soup looked very interesting and delicious. You guys always do a great job of describing what you are experiencing.

The Arepa is a bit sweet because it is an arepa boyacence from Boyaca, it is made with cuajada instead of cheese that is what is made before cheese. There are multiple types of arepas in colombia an venezuela but the one you tried is of a very specific department. It is my favorite :) Also try Arepas de choclo/cachapas, arepas santandereanas, arepitas antioqueñas, de mais peto, arepas de huevo, arepitas dulces and of course all the venezuelan arepas that have a corn base and they open them and add a ton of different filling which are delicious :) Hugs and kisses from Bogota!

Interesting food tour. Not sure about all the cheese in things that shouldn’t have cheese. It’s a shame you couldn’t do a couple of things you wanted but it looked like a fun day anyway. Miss you both, love you, mum.xx❤️

Hi actually Jackfruit is more yellow, this one is called Guanabana that has white flesh and in english I believe it is called soursop. A very traditional juice in Colombia is the guanabana juice or with milk :)

Wish you’d convert all prices to USD as well to give us a better reference. Some older videos only have costs in local currency.

Interesting point! As Australia’s we automatically went for the AUD conversion but can look at adding US as well 😊

Chicha was a liquor for centuries, from pre-hispanic tribes that lived those mountains, and by 1949, it was forbidden due to "public health concerns" and it was demonized but the truth is high class beer manufacturers and local authorithies wanted the people "not to get sooo drunk with these fermented liquor", so then beer became as a "noble choice" to drink... and also make Bavaria (first and only brewer) a great income company. Within the years, not only was the first huge company in Colombia (the 1st one with more than 1000 employees), founded by german inmigrants more than 130 years ago, but also made its owners billionaires. Now its under control of belgian Anheuser-Busch. Fortunately, chicha recipes are maintained and are broader than ever.
