Colombian Jungle Commandos Combat Insertion Covered By Black Hawk Helicopter Minigun Fire

Helmet cam footage from a Colombian Jungle Commandos insertion covered by mingun fire of a Black Hawk helicopter back in 2021 appeared online.
There is not much detail about the background of the operation.
Either the Commandos operated within FARC territory or conducted an operation against one of the numerous Cartels in the country.
The men in the video are part of the so called "Comandos Jungla" a special unit of the Colombian National Police.
Their main task is to combat narco related crime.
The unit was funded back in 1989 with help of the USA and British Special Air Service (SAS).
Today the DEA also supports the Junglas with training and during missions.

If you were plopped down in the middle of the jungle you would probably need some time to orient yourself first as well. If you start moving immediately once you're on the ground you could make a wrong move and end up taking a permanent nap.

AFAIK that is an "Arpia" a Colombian-Israel helicopter based on the US Black hawk . Yeah, technically is a Black Hawk, but it has been modified so much that it can be taken as a different gunship.

That is the standard altitude a chopper stop to drop the personnel. They can’t go lower for safe sake of the ship. It is soft terrain in this case, which is not always the case.

Random thoughts: 1. If the FARC or drug barons ever get their hands on AA weaponry, these tactics will have to change. 2. Wondering why they aren't mounting these attacks at night. 3. Wondering if there might be benefit from dropping the commandos farther away - out of hearing range of the chopper rotors - then giving them time to get into position, then doing a strafing/bombing run immediately before the commandos go into the attack.

never thought in the AA possibility, however to get heavy weaponry here in Colombia is way harder than you think - they do night assaults, but only into FARC settles, as well thanks u guys provided us with the bad ass A130 that had helped a lot fighting this antisocial scums, -finally the task is to dismount any coco lab found in the jungle, they are very experienced guys with the blackhawks, thanks god is very rare seeing guerrilla with rockets, they mainly do snipers and LGM stay safe

@@RAAM855 Well, think about it - something like a Stinger would already be a problem. Even a .50 or 20mm or some other autocannon could be a very unpleasant thing to deal with, and they could be set up under camo of some sort near the drug farm or processing facility.

Es cierto es una operacion riesgosa, pero no más que parar un auto sospechoso. Ahi tienen el helicoptero blindado dando cobertura, ademas que es muy difícil acertarle el tiro a un helicoptero y es poco probable que los narcos tengan rpg, stinger, o en el peor de los casos s-300.

Colombian National Police -JUNGLAS commandos unit. They usually are assigned on search and destroy missions for high value targets. I'm in the air assault division in the Army Special Operations. They are one of the finest Police Commandos in the world with alot of combat action.
