As a rule, radio stations would not play a song longer than about three minutes at that time. Of course, The Beatles were the exception to that rule. Paul wrote this for John's son, Julian, when John and Julian's mother, Cynthia, were divorcing. Julian, who looks a lot like his father, has always considered Paul to be his uncle.
